Job Description:
The primary purpose of the Fire & Emergency Response Coordinator is to ensure overall program compliance and emergency response readiness. The Fire & Emergency Response Coordinator must be able to participate in a comprehensive fire prevention program; make comprehensive studies and prepare reports and recommendations; read and interpret plans and specifications; detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard safety procedures; properly interpret and make decisions in accordance with laws, regulations and [Company] policies.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Maintains complete and accurate files and records associated with fire system compliance and emergency response training
- Collects and analyzes data related to fire system inspections and provides a remedial action report to appropriate department heads
- Coordinates and facilitates all emergency response drills and training
- Maintains all employee training records associated with emergency response
- Maintains and updates facility fire plans
- Responsible for monthly fire extinguisher inspections and the recordkeeping thereof
- Testing of fire monitoring and alarm systems
- Routine testing of fire detection and suppression systems
- Responsible for the performance and maintenance of all fire apparatus
- Organizes and trains personnel to carry out fire protection programs
- Other duties as assigned to support to overall compliance and responsiveness of the company
Experience / Qualifications:
- Associates level degree preferred but not required.
- Minimum 4 years of experience related to fire and emergency response activities.
- Professional certification(s) is preferred, but not required
- CPR/First Aid
Competencies, skills, and abilities:
Experience in Emergency Response, Haz-Mat, Fire or Rescue preferred. Proficient written and verbal communication skills, people skills, and an ability to work under pressure within deadlines are required.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Internet Search Engines.
Physical demands:
Able to lift 75 pounds frequently
Able to don bunker gear to include a Self Contained Breathing Apparatus
Working conditions:
Able to work in all kinds of weather conditions
Able to work nights and/or weekends when warranted
Supervisory responsibility:
This position has no supervisory responsibility
Preferred education, experience, certifications, competencies, skills, and abilities:
Above the minimum requirements; not required but advantageous in this position:
Experience operating within terminals, petroleum industry, or other heavy industrial or manufacturing facilities is highly desirable
