The Category Manager – Desktop Services will be accountable for maintaining commercial relationships with a range of suppliers and developing strategies and routes to market for the spend on a range of services required by users across [Company]. This will include being accountable for identifying and leading procurement projects that maximise value to [Company], for executing projects to deliver optimal value in line with the sector strategies and for managing the ongoing commercial outcomes.. These projects have a wide range in scale, complexity, degree of difficultly and risk which is identified in this profile.
The successful candidate will work in a small specialist procurement team supported by the wider global Indirect Procurement community. This role offers the opportunity and scope to initiate, shape and drive change within an important area of the Indirect Procurement spend portfolio.
Key accountabilities
- The development of sourcing strategies in alignment with set IT sector strategies and specific business objectives (both local and global).
- Understands business requirements for third party goods and services
- Developing and maintaining knowledge of the IT services market place.
- Engaging the business and provide guidance on PSCM process and risk management
- Manages supplier relationships
- Leading the full sourcing process which includes development of scope, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, and contract execution.
- Provides on-going contract cost management and risk assessment.
- Championing and supporting the deployment of the appropriate purchase to pay solution.
- Ensuring the PSCM common processes are implemented, used and continually improved.
- Coaching less experienced PSCM staff
- Participating in company networks, sharing information, best practices and lessons learned.
- Interfacing where relevant with the Indirect Procurement Operations Centre.
- Effectively/Optimize utilization of the offshore IP Procurement Operations Center (POC) to deliver sourcing activities.
- Work closely with POC Service Delivery Leads and Service Delivery Coordinators to assure POC sourcing delivery to the business stakeholders.
Essential criteria & qualifications
- Experience of purchasing services in the IT space within a blue-chip environment
- Experience of procuring service-based contracts
- Experience of working with and influencing both internal and external stakeholders
- Track record of strong supplier performance measurement and management
- Experience of procuring within diverse project-based environments
- Knowledge and experience of contract law and contract management
- Experience of working with suppliers to deliver industry recognised best practice
- Able to challenge both internal and external stakeholders on expectations and deliveries
- Experience of the relevant tools and processes
- Educated to degree level
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- MCIPS certification – gained or working toward certification
- Knowledge of [Company] procurement processes and procedures
