[Company] in [Location] is looking for a Geophysicist to join the Development Teams in the Petroleum Engineering Department. The incumbent will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects, spanning both new field developments (in the Development Integration team) and the continuing development of existing operated producing assets (in the Mature Fields Study team).
 
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
The person will be responsible for all geophysical aspects of assigned projects and will have to ensure that all relevant geophysical data is utilised and that interpretations are embedded in the opportunity development plans. The role requires innovative thinking, close integration with other subsurface disciplines and an open mind to identify how and where geophysics can impact [Company] project delivery & value.
 
The ability to lead or provide key input in the identification of drilling targets and other field development opportunities is essential together with a good understanding of well planning. Responsibilities will also include the justification for acquisition of any new geophysical data in order to enhance the subsurface understanding of the reservoirs involved. This will be done in liaison with the special projects department. Another requisite for the job is the willingness to mentor junior staff in the department.
 
Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Candidates should have an in-depth geophysical knowledge including advanced level workstation interpretation and mapping (Landmark, SVI-pro & preferably Petrel), quantitative interpretation, inversion, reservoir characterisation, AVO, structural interpretation, depth conversion and uncertainty analysis. Experience in 4D would be a distinct advantage. In addition, candidates should have a good working understanding of geology, reservoir engineering and an appetite to try out new technologies and push technical boundaries.
 
The successful candidate has strong skills in development geophysics, enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment and is able to work on a number of projects in parallel delivering to tight deadlines and will have the following key attributes:
 
  • Education to an MSc level or higher is preferred.
  • Have demonstrable industry experience in field development planning and exploration work with an operator/operators.
  • A track record of producing quality results within a time bound environment.
  • Skilled in use of geoscience 3D reservoir characterisation toolkits – Seisworks & Petrel.
  • Proven ability to identify new scope volumes & formulate associated development concepts & plans whilst maintaining focus on the key risks and uncertainties.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, good communicator and confident presenter
  • Aptitude to question and challenge in a constructive manner.
  • Be a self starter with drive, initiative and strong analytical and communication skills who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary environment.
