Job description
To perform/organize/supervise during Concept Evaluation/Project Definition phase (pre-project included) in liaison with Assets Development Team Leaders:
- The required Mechanical studies (in accordance with Development Plan General Schedule)
- The assessment of the Mechanical studies carried out at pre-project stage by DevCos through a FEED contractor where such a scheme has been put in place (e.g. [Location] phase II)
- To participate in technical audits and project reviews as requested during all project phases from Basic Engineering up to Start-Up (e.g. Project EP Phase)
- To provide/organize the expertise allowing to select reliable, safe and economical technical solutions
- To promote/participate in the development of new / innovative technologies as required
- Where required, to draft or validate specifications in her/his discipline, to assess request for deviations
Accountabilities and Responsibilities under supervision of the Lead Facilities Engineer:
The job holder is accountable and responsible for:
- Performing/organizing and when relevant supervising during Concept Evaluation/Project Definition phase (pre-project included) in liaison with Assets Development Team Leaders:
- The required Mechanical studies (in accordance with Development Plan General Schedule).
- The assessment of the Mechanical studies carried out at pre-project stage by DevCos through a FEED contractor where such a scheme has been put in place (e.g. Project phase II)
- The definition of the scope, the organisation and the supervision of the studies or assistances that could be outsourced
- The estimation of hours / schedule and budget when relevant for the studies
These studies include but are not limited to:
- Rotating Machines
- Turbomachines (Steam and gas turbines, Centrifugal, volumetric and axial compressors, Rotodynamic and volumetric pumps...)
- Reciprocating equipment (Internal combustion engines, Reciprocating pumps and compressors…)
- Auxiliaries (Emergency power units, Plant and instrument air units, Hydraulic power packs, Hydraulic and mechanical transmissions)
- Piping
- Tubes, flanges, fittings, valves and gaskets
- Piping system,
- Flexibility analysis
- Piping material classes
- Pressure vessels
- Columns, drums, exchangers, storage tanks
- Calculations for pressure vessels
- Metallurgy – Welding
- Material selection for piping and pressure vessels
- Selection and/or definition of manufacturing procedures (welding, forming, heat treatment, non destructive testing)
- Heat Insulation
- Materials for piping and pressure vessels
- Pipelines
- Corrosion
- Ensuring that the studies carried out by Engineering companies are performed according to client Codes & Standards and industry standards.
- Where required, writing up , drafting or validating technical specifications, assessing request for deviations
- Participating in audits, taking part in technical project reviews, review and assessment of technical documents and assistance to DevCos and ProdCos as requested during all phases of the projects from Basic Engineering up to Start-Up (e.g. Project EP Phase)
- Performing a techno-watch in speciality to maintain highest technical level, initiating, participating in the development of new / innovative technologies in liaison with the Technical Authority Department
- Participating in the transitions/hand-overs with Agents for Mechanical matters.
- Managing efficiently the interfaces with other connected disciplines.
- Representing if necessary the Lead Facilities Engineer in different reviews and meetings.
