Job description
To perform/organize/supervise up to “Concept Project definition” including pre-project phase in liaison with Assets Development Team Leaders:
  • The required Electrical studies mainly and instrumentation studies supplementary (in accordance with Development Plan General Schedule)
  • The assessment of the Electrical, Instrumentation studies carried out at pre-project stage by DevCos through a FEED contractor where such a scheme has been put in place (e.g. Project phase II)
  • To participate to technical audits and project reviews as requested during all project phases from Basic Engineering up to Start-Up (e.g. Project EP Phase)
  • To provide/organize the expertise allowing to select reliable, safe and economical technical solutions
  • To promote/participate to the development of new technologies as required. Particular involvement in the development /validation of a pipeline electrical heating technology is expected.
  • Where required, to draft or validate specifications in its discipline, to assess request for deviations
 
 
Accountabilities and Responsibilities
At project perimeter and under supervision of the lead E&I Engineer the job holder is accountable and responsible for:
  • Performing/organizing/supervising up to Concept Project definition phase (pre-project included) in liaison with Assets Development Team Leaders:
    • The required studies of the following specialties placed under his/her responsibility: Electrical and, Instrumentation, (in accordance with Development Plan General Schedule).
    • The assessment of the Electrical mainly , Instrumentation, studies carried out at pre-project stage by DevCos through a FEED contractor where such a scheme has been put in place (e.g. Project phase II)
 
These studies and assistance include but are not limited to:
  • Electrical
  • Subsea Pipeline Electrical Heating Systems including DEH, EHT & SECT
  • Power generation
    • Generators sets driven by turbines or diesel engines for normal power supply and emergency supply
    • High voltage sub-stations
    • Connecting to the public grid
    • Stand-alone power sources with low power ratings: solar arrays, thermo-electric generators, CCVT
    • Wind generators
  • Power distribution
    • Sub-stations and conventional or prefabricated electrical cabins
    • High and low voltage switchgear
    • Transformers
    • Electrical system studies including stability and harmonics
    • Digital control systems for generation/distribution networks
    • Uninterruptible power supplies
    • Subsea cables (power + optical fibres)
  • Electrical users: Fixed or variable speed electric motors, Special motors (E.S.P…), Electric heaters for process, Heat tracing, Electrical equipment for Explosive atmospheres, Earthing , Lightning protection and EMC issues
  • Instrumentation
    • Systems for: Process Control, Emergency Shutdown, F&G, HIPPS, Subsea wellhead control, Scada, Custody transfer, fiscal metering and leak detection systems
    • Pressure, Temperature, Level, and Flow (liquid, gas and multiphase) instruments
    • Detectors for Gas (flammable or toxic: High H2S content projects), Fire, smoke and heat
    • Analysers for: Dewpoint, BS & W, Gas chromatographs, Gravity
    • Control valves, on off safety valves and relief valves
    • Installation and protection of instruments , detectors and systems: Explosion proof, Intrinsic safety, NACE (H2S)
  • Ensuring that the studies carried out by DevCos and engineering companies are in line with client codes & standards and industry standards and good practices.
  • Where required, writing up, drafting or validating technical specifications, assessing request for deviations
  • Participating in audits, technical project reviews, review and assessment of technical documents and assistance to DevCos and ProdCos as requested during all phases of the project from Basic Engineering up to Start-Up (e.g. Project EP Phase)
  • Performing a techno-watch in specialty to maintain high technical level to at its highest.
  • Involvement in the development /validation of new / innovative technologies and particularly in a pipeline electrical heating technology.
  • Participating in the transition/hand-overs with Agents for Electrical / Instrumentation matters.
  • Managing efficiently the interfaces with other connected disciplines.
  • Representing if necessary the Lead E&I Engineer in different reviews and meetings.
