Our client is currently seeking a seasoned professional to join Sherwood Park team as a Chief Mechanical Estimator.
Job Description:
- Review and maintain cost codes, project productivity and project control systems specific to mechanical and piping discipline;
- Coordinate multidiscipline estimates;
- Overseeing pricing entries, extensions, checking and closing estimates;
- Liaise with Client and Engineering offices to support EDS/AFE budgeting processes;
- Proofing quantity survey of materials, equipment and services required to complete the work being tendered;
- Checking plans and specifications for trades and items relating to the mechanical contract;
- Reviewing all materials and equipment specified for alternates and equals.
- Ensuring that estimated costs can be achieved and/or improved;
- Reviewing project information sheets;
- Reviewing purchase orders, letters of intent or contract forms from clients;
- Monitoring conformance for the scope of work and commercial terms to that of the tender;
- Arranging final submission and execution of the final contract documentation, including (if necessary) formal contracts, final bonds, and certificates of insurance;
- Oversee the organization of the procurement of major equipment sub-trades and bulk materials;
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education preferred and/or piping trades plus equipment installation experience, supplemented by at least 15 years of progressive estimating experience in mechanical;
- Proven ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines for normal functions and special assignments;
- Attention to detail, mathematical, analytical skills, and accuracy;
- Proficiency using MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access), experience with packaged mechanical estimating software is an asset;
- Service orientation and ability to work effectively with a team environment;
- Ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external clients.
