The Engine Room Responsible primary responsibility is to conduct the engine watch on a deepwater Semi Submersible DP2 drilling rig. The Engine Room Responsible (ERR) reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.
Duties will include:
- Responsible for Engine Room alarm and normal on duty routines.
- It is the responsibility of the ERR to ensure that all equipment within his area of responsibility is being inspected at the beginning of each shift. Special attention must be given to equipment in operation and equipment required by the immediately impending operation.
- Carry out maintenance and inspections on mechanical equipment and systems in accordance with the preventive maintenance program, oil scheme, manufactures instructions and the Maintenance Supervisor's instructions.
- Provide repair service to the other functions on board.
- Operate, inspect and service running equipment in accordance with the Maintenance Supervisor's instructions.
- Technical support in particular for Motorman
- Maintain good housekeeping in work area, at all times
- Conduct himself in a manner which safeguards his own and colleagues' safety and health
- Responsible for safe operation of equipment
- The Engine Room Responsible can be asked to work days or nights.
- Minimum Qualification Requirements STCW III/1 (Second Engineer) certificate of competency.
- If the relevant certificates are held - Chief Engineers Class 1, opportunities may exist to progress to Maintenance Engineer and then ultimately Maintenance Supervisor.
- Sound knowledge of plant operation, maintenance and computerized maintenance systems.
- Computer literate Conversant with safety management principles Conversant with quality management principles.
- Good verbal and written English communication skills.
