Position Duties / Responsibilities
- Applies specialized knowledge of startup methods to the solution of specific problems. Provides the resolution of technical questions arising in the area of specialty. Uses advanced startup engineering techniques and the modification and extension of theories, precepts and practices of related sciences and disciplines.
- Executes specialized assignments within a type of industry or type of industrial process for startup, operations, maintenance or testing.
- Assists in the preparation of project proposals.
- Maintains contact with others within area of expertise as directed regarding new concepts, approaches and solutions to problems.
- Assists in project design reviews and project operations manual preparation.
- Provides technical guidance to project or task force personnel as assigned.
- Prepares and gives presentations as directed.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs Maintenance activities within the COMT team for the project. Provides supervision or assistance at the job site.
- Plans, develops, coordinates, and directs Maintenance and Initial Start Up activities within a discipline for the assigned project(s).
- Provides startup supervision or assistance at the job site.
- Prepares or directs the preparation of Maintenance Manuals.
- Ensures that work being performed is within scope of services and within budget.
- Coordinates with client representatives to obtain approval on work as it is accomplished.
- Reviews and approves key Maintenance methods, procedures, and schedules on the project.
- Performs performance reviews for personnel supervised and provides appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
KNOWLEDGE and EXPERIENCE:
Basic Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of startup, operation, maintenance, or testing.
- Minimum 15 years experience and have demonstrated commitment and involvement to HSE.
- Knowledge of engineering systems and calculations, applications of both engineering and startup methods and application of computers to engineering problems.
- Extensive knowledge of precedents in the startup and operations areas and a broad knowledge of principles and practices of related areas.
- Broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards and criteria pertinent to startup, maintenance, operations, or testing.
The above is normally acquired through:
- A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline from an accredited college or university, or
- A professional license in an engineering discipline, or
- A sufficient number of specialized courses in relevant general engineering or an appropriate engineering discipline, and
- Broad, progressive work experience in startup, operations or other relevant experiences in design engineering, construction, field engineering, or plant operation in industrial, process, or other facilities.
- Demonstrated skill in leadership.
- Skill in oral and written communication (English).
