Position Duties / Responsibilities
CANDIDATE MUST HAVE THE RIGHT TO LIVE AND WORK IN AUSTRALIA.
Administers large moderately complex (sub)contracts. Maintains a continuing review of the progress of each (sub)contract and provides management with information regarding any financial, legal or technical difficulties. Prepares change order and amendments, negotiates with (sub)contractors and customers to obtain settlement.
Administers moderately complex contracts. Broad knowledge and experience in (sub)contract administration required. May participate in contract negotiations.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
- Complies with the Division Responsibilities Matrix which records the Project's agreed assignment of various subcontract management tasks and the Standard Work Process Procedures applicable to subcontract Administration.
- Administers assigned subcontracts maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial or technical difficulties.
- Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract administration and other major matters.
- Administers moderately complex contract changes by negotiating with customer personnel and obtaining settlement.
- Administers information programs to ensure mutual understanding of subcontract terms and conditions.
- Prepares periodic status reports for management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Basic knowledge of procurement regulations, policies and practices.
- Specialized courses or experience in pricing, contract law, negotiations and accounting.
- Working knowledge of engineering/construction industry contracting practices and Bechtel policies, procedures and work practices.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in developing contract types, fee arrangements and contract terms.
- Experience in developing and recommending potential solutions to contractual problems to management.
- Broad knowledge and experience in subcontract administration required.
JOB RELATED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
This is a shared position between OG&C Contracts and Procurement. The candidate is expected to perform the following duties:
PROCUREMENT
- Assisting with managing the Australian supply base.
- Attending meetings with the client, suppliers or others as necessary
- Conducting surveys of local suppliers.
- Assisting with planning in-country activities such as a marshalling station, AQIS, customs or other item that may be required.
- Other Procurement functions as needed.
SUBCONTRACTS
- Subcontract administration for the Geotech investigation and any other early activity in the field.
- Identification of Australian companies suitable to bid for work.
