Role synopsis
Reporting to the Credit Risk Programme Manager the Project Manager will be responsible for the delivery of all Credit Risk projects including many aspects of stakeholder management. The split of responsibilities is that the Programme Manager manages finances, headcount, seat-count, outward reporting and the majority of the stakeholder management whilst the project manager focuses on delivery and some of the stakeholder management.
 
Although the Project Manager will only have one permanent line report s/he will have to manage the whole team of circa 40 to deliver the projects.
 
The role will entail the management and co-ordination of multiple concurrent projects and will involve managing multi-location, global projects from inception to completion, following [Company] Project Management methodologies. The portfolio of projects will significantly impact the business and their successful rollout is critical to the benefits realization. The candidate should therefore bring significant and proven experience of managing and delivering complex projects and programmes on time and within budget and have a well developed approach to problem solving and decision making.
 
The candidate will bring commitment and enthusiasm to high quality and timely project delivery and will exhibit outstanding coaching and leadership skills. The project manager will lead a team of Business Analysts, Developers and Testers with a strong emphasis on mentoring and day-to-day guidance on applying best project management practice to appropriate projects.
 
The successful candidate will promote the consistent usage of formal project management methods, tools and techniques along with considerable experience in all project lifecycle phases.
 
S/he will be working with a wide range of stakeholders both within [Company] and externally (third party suppliers) including Service Management, Murex, [Company] Global Operations & Infrastructure (GOI) and the [Company] IST business itself (specifically Credit Risk and traders using our front end Credit Risk tool).
 
Key accountabilities
  • Overall project management of Credit Risk releases.
  • Active prioritisation of the required changes through close engagement with the business.
  • Actively collaborate across functional streams & with other groups involved in the project and support life cycle to ensure the delivery of a quality product minimising any negative business impact.
  • To work closely with internal [Company] customer and stakeholder teams in Europe, Eastern Hemispheres and U.S to ensure that programme schedules and dependencies are factored into their plans.
  • Network with other project managers within IST to ensure federal projects and standards are achieved.
  • To develop and strengthen relationships outside of the functional team, focusing on understanding the needs of those who depend on the team's services, and those who deliver services upon which the team depends.
  • Accountability for relevant projects including management of timescales and resources. Will assist Programme Manager with finances and have to work within them.
  • Ensure the timely creation and delivery of up to date reports and fully resourced project plans.
  • To consistently monitor progress, and regularly report status to Senior Management.
  • Overall leadership, guidance and mentoring of the business analysts, testers and development teams, working closely with the lead of each area.
  • To assist and manage the team leaders in the implementation of their plans.
  • Support and manage personnel development; identify growth opportunities, develop organizational management strengths, and provide a role model for company leadership.
  • Develop a team culture that promotes the development and retention of high quality development staff.
  • Ensure compliance with the [Company]  technical policies and technology standards.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of high quality enterprise releases: Several per year.
  • To conform to the [Company] standards and to adopt and implement those standards.
 
The person in this role will also become one of Credit’s Duty Managers. This requires being on call 24/7 for one week in approximately 7, and then dealing with any issues that arise, using technical on-call staff.
 
Essential criteria & qualifications
  • Extensive full life cycle experience of major IT Project delivery.
  • A Project Management background with a proven track record in Project/change management in a multi-project environment.
  • Proven experience of managing teams of people.
  • Experience of planning and prioritizing critical enterprise development tasks.
  • Proven attention to quality of implementation including usability, data quality, data latency, and delivery times.
  • Awareness of appropriate project management techniques and best practice with the ability to apply them pragmatically throughout the team to the benefit of the whole group.
  • Experience of identifying, building and maintaining strong relationships with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrable extensive IT systems knowledge.
  • A formal qualification in at least one Project Management methodology, e.g. PRINCE2.
