Description:

As a member of an asset team, conducts reservoir studies that encompass analyzing logs, drafting structure and net pay maps, managing databases, and analyzing production data in order to quantify the volumes of oil and gas for reserves estimation and to evaluate the economics of workovers and the associated reserves. Monitors waterflood and polymer flood performance and recommends changes to injection-withdrawal schedules to enhance performance. Researches, designs and justifies new waterfloods and assists in implementation. Researches well files, extract pertinent engineering data, draw wellbore schematics from workover reports, and writes workover procedures. Builds and runs simple reservoir models to assist in long term reservoir management. Takes a lead role in identifying and justifying reserve additions and presents and defends reserve base to independent reserve auditor in accordance with corporate and industry guidelines.

Essential Job Responsibilities: Identifies, prioritizes, presents, and monitors oil and gas development and exploitation projects. Identifies and quantifies oil and gas targets of reserves. Constructs plans of depletion. Identifies reservoir mechanics and predicts potential for additional recovery. Researches field and well histories. Produces wellbore schematics. Analyzes cased hole and open hole well logs. Analyzes pressure and production/injection data. Constructs Hall Plots. Constructs and runs simple reservoir models. Produces structure, production, isobaric, and isopach maps. Performs Nodal Analysis. Performs rate-transient analysis. Compiles all relevant data into a complete history of and plan for future development of oil and gas fields. Evaluates economics and profitability of potential projects for the company.


Qualifications:

Ability to conduct detailed reservoir evaluations and studies. Ability to integrate geological and geophysical data into reservoir engineering calculations.  Ability to integrate data from different sources into model reservoirs. Proficiency in the use and application of the following software: Required: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook), Nodal analysis, and public data retrieval. Preferred: Microsoft Access, Aries economic software and/or other reservoir engineering software tools, well log evaluations, risk assessment, PETRA, Rate Transient Analysis (RTA), Power Tools, and CAD.


Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering.
