This position will report to the Executive Vice President , who splits his time between New York and Houston. The Senior Geoscientist will work closely with the Manager of Land and Business Development.
DESCRIPTION:
The successful candidate will be heavily involved in prospect evaluation and acquisition review and will be asked to help identify opportunities in both conventional and non-conventional basins.
SPECIFIC DUTIES
Specifically, the Senior Geoscientist will be responsible for the following:
- Providing technical leadership for the company’s domestic program including geologic and geophysical review of prospects and acquisition opportunities.
- Reviewing and evaluating operator G&G well proposals/programs and monitoring the drilling of wells.
- Formulating exploitation strategies and objectives, and recommending/proposing same to Operators.
- Developing and maintaining key contacts within the oil and gas industry as a potential source of new prospect opportunities and partners.
- Keep the Executive Vice President and other key management informed of conditions, activities and trends in the assigned areas.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree in geology/geophysics, an advanced degree preferred, with a minimum of ten years of exploration experience.
- The Senior Geoscientist must have extensive practical and technical experience in petroleum exploration and exploitation throughout the domestic onshore region. The finalist will be able to document a record of prospect generation or review, acquisition and drilling success within areas of responsibility. The background of the successful candidate will include cross training in the other technical disciplines of hydrocarbon exploration, specifically geophysics, as well as contemporary experience with computer based exploration tools.
- The Senior Geoscientist will be a bright, energetic, detail-oriented, and articulate individual with a reputation of integrity, maturity and sound business judgment. This individual must be a self-starter, a disciplined and organized person with the ability to translate ideas into action-oriented recommendations. Career efforts and an excellent reputation will have provided him/her with the ability to develop a network of industry contacts.
