Job Description:
We are currently seeking a Human Resources Manager for our Lafayette, Louisiana location.
 
Responsibilities:
Providing guidance and consultation to Division Management on a variety of Human Resources issues, including but not limited to:
  • Employee Relations, helping identify training needs, employee turnover, people management, interpretation/approval of various policies, procedures and business practices, and compensation and benefits
  • Formulating and recommending Human Resources policies and procedures to the HR Director based on the needs of the Division
  • Working with internal stakeholders on communicating information to employees within the Division that has a positive impact on employee retention, and that provides meaningful information to employees in a timely manner
  • Administering company guidelines relating to employee relations, ensuring they are carried out in accordance with established policies, laws and regulations, as well as reviewing all terminations to ensure adherence to employment laws
  • Providing necessary educational materials to management and employees including workshops, manuals, employee handbooks and standardized reports to keep them informed of current issues
  • Keeping management abreast of issues affecting company operations, particularly anything that is a safety concern
  • Working with Division Management in securing important data through reports, that can be acted upon in a way that improves operational performance
  • Reviewing current processes and making recommendations for process improvement to better serve Managers and employees
  • Evaluating and making decisions on criminal background results to minimize risk and contribute to hiring a top producing workforce
  • Providing consultation, recommendations and training to Managers in the area of progressive discipline, employee issues/investigations
  • Making recommendations on employee relations best practices to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale
  • Identifying legal requirements and government reporting regulations, as well as directing the preparation of information required for compliance to reduce or eliminate risk
  • Providing support and guidance to the local HR staff as needed, including but not limited to, benefits administration, data entry and maintenance of employee information system, preparation of required reporting to various state and local agencies and processing of new hires
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related field
  • At least five (5) years work experience in human resources or employee relations with supervisory or managerial experience
  • Experience with an oil-related industry or business is highly preferred, but not mandatory
  • Willingness to travel throughout the division working with the local management team (approximately 20% of the time and with a current 500 mile radius of Lafayette)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of HR practices and functional areas
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures with thorough understanding of federal, state and local laws affecting employment practices
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to deal tactfully with all levels of people within the organization and outside contacts
  • Ability to understand, interpret and implement HR concepts and best practices and handle highly confidential information and data effectively
  • Good organizational skills and attention to details
  • Proficient in the use of computer systems and standard office software (Word, Excel, etc.)
