Summary:
[Company] was founded in 1973 as a small diving company and has grown into a leader in the marine construction services industry. [Company] provides offshore construction, engineering and support services including pipeline, platform installation and removal, and diving services to the oil and gas industry in the Gulf of Mexico, West Africa, Asia Pacific, Middle East/India, South America, and Mexico's Bay of Campeche.
[Company] is a publicly traded company which offers construction and marine support services world-wide. Our horizontal reel pipelay, mudbug technology, automatic welding, wet welding, and dry hyperbaric welding methodologies are unsurpassed in the industry.
Role:
This is a senior technical position reporting to the Manager of Engineering, located in Houston. The right candidate will have a strong background and hands-on experience with one of the following: offshore pipeline design, offshore pipeline installation engineering, or offshore pipeline project engineering.
General Characteristics:
- Applies a thorough knowledge of current principles and practices of engineering as related to the design and construction of offshore pipelines.
- Applies knowledge and expertise acquired through progressive experience to resolve crucial issues and/or unique conditions.
- Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the company, and recommends new practices or changes in emphasis of programs.
- Works on programs of limited complexity and scope.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Serves as the technical specialist for the organization in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods in the field of offshore pipelines.
- Keeps informed of new developments and requirements affecting the company for the purpose of recommending changes in programs or applications.
- Interprets, organizes, executes and coordinates assignments.
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Supervises a staff of engineers or technicians.
- Plans, schedules or coordinates the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects.
- Reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable design, policies and performance measures.
Direction Received:
Receives administrative supervision with assignments given in terms of broad general objectives and limits.
Communication Skills:
Routinely interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors and others.
Leads project meetings and makes presentations.
Represents the organization and maintains liaison with individuals and related organization
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Civil or Ocean Engineering, Master’s degree preferred.
Experience:
10 to 15 years in a similar position in the offshore construction industry, preferably with an installation contractor.
