Job Description:
  • Performs engineering design, technical evaluations, research and development work on projects assigned. Uses the CAD/CAM and database systems and facilities to make layouts, analyze designs, evaluate equipment systems and generate new equipment designs.
  • Tests and evaluates prototypes and products to determine design limits and needed improvements. Prepares test reports and closure reports on engineering project assignments.
  • Consults with other departments on equipment designs, problems and questions.
  • Makes field trips with sales and service personnel with new products and technical applications.
  • Provides functional supervision, encourages a positive attitude and a good department image among assigned support personnel.
  • Assists and checks the work of drafters, designers and engineers.
  • Helps prepare project plans, schedules, budgets and status reports.
  • Prepares documentation, information and communications such as ECN (Engineering Change Notices), DBI (Data Base Information) and engineering specifications and ensures conformance to all policies and procedures related to engineering functions, labor reporting and systems reporting.
  • Prepares technical data and papers for sales personnel, customers and publications, attend appropriate industry related professional society meetings and functions in order to stay informed of and make good use of new technology, products and personal development opportunities.
 
Product Applications:
The application and design engineering groups design manufacture and test subsea and surface equipment. During the design phase, equipment and functions are defined. The manufacturing phase includes the appropriation of parts as well as the assembly of equipment components. The engineer will solve problems such as components that don’t fit or that are machined improperly. Finally, the engineer is responsible for troubleshooting problems as the equipment is pressure tested.
 
CTG (Core Technology Group)/PMC (Product Management Center)
These CTG and PMC groups are primarily involved in researching and developing new equipment. These groups participate in the design phase as new equipment and future projects are developed. Then during the refinement phase, they work to improve or upgrade the design. The engineer must complete design and product reviews and ensure that the new equipment is qualified according to industry standards. The engineer must interpret these standards and apply them to the new equipment.
 
CSIE - Customer Support Installation Engineering
The Customer Support Engineering Department consists of degreed and offshore experienced mechanical, electrical, industrial, and petroleum engineers that are hands-on, product-application oriented engineers. Customer Support Engineers provide detailed engineering planning and execution services for installation, intervention, refurbishment and maintenance of [Company] subsea and topsides products.
 
Working closely with the [Company] project team, the customer team, and the [Company] offshore service team, the Customer Support Installation Engineer performs activities such as:
  • Plan for and provide onshore and offshore technical support for [Company] product installation, intervention, and commissioning activities
  • Execute and lead System Integration Testing (SIT) of [Company] products with 3rd party products
  • Design specialty tooling and conduct appropriate design reviews
  • Attend design reviews and provide a Customer Support focus for new [Company] products
  • Plan equipment layout scenarios based on rig or work vessel site visits
  • Create technical installation, modification, and maintenance procedures, drawings, and documentation
  • Analyze and optimize installation and commissioning methods
  • Direct and oversee equipment and tooling mobilization, demobilization, refurbishment, and modification
  • Implement project specific software and hardware system upgrades
  • Assist in continuous product improvement through non-conformance reporting, troubleshooting and root cause analysis investigations
  • Create installation and intervention performance metrics and documentation
  • Coordinate 3rd party interfaces to [Company] products
  • Participate in continuous internal and external training
  • Document Lessons Learned of all activities
 
Rotation Program:
The rotation program is a 2-years. Initially, the Rotation Engineer will complete 10 weeks of training. Engineers in the program will then move on to do a total of 5 job rotations. Rotational Engineers are fully functioning members of each respective department during the rotation and are expected to achieve certain specific job related objectives and assignments. Rotation placement is based on company resource needs and the product exposure desired by the Rotational Engineer.
 
Qualifications:
BS Degree in Engineering. Candidate should be highly motivated, performance driven, team player, resourceful, highly analytical and practical. Skills should include design, enabling technology, computer skills (CAD and MS Office software) and good interpersonal skills.
