QUALIFICATIONS
- BOSIET M
- Apprenticeship or level 2 NVQ equivalent in relevant trade discipline M
- ONC in an engineering discipline or City and Guilds in a related trade or an NVQ level 3 in a related trade
- P.T.W. / I.S.S.O.W M
EXPERIENCE
- Industrial experience in fabrication and construction.
- Experience in offshore construction.
COMPETENCIES
- Protection methods of electrical equipment in hazardous areas
- Reading and interpreting schematic and loop drawings
- Recognition of equipment (pumps, vessels, valves, etc).
- Ability to demonstrate a high level of understanding of HSE safe working practices, procedures and their implementation.
- Safe working – commitment to safe working practices ensuring that all workscopes are completed in a safe manner at all times.
- Can demonstrate the ability to read, interpret and implement procedures / specifications / drawings / sketches etc.

- Transformers and chokes
- Electrical hand tools
- Electrical distribution systems
- Battery & uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems
- Circuit protection devices
- Generators
- A.C. electric motors
- D.C. electric motors
- Lighting equipment
- Heating, ventilation & air conditioning systems
- High voltage equipment
- Testing of cables and equipment
- Work from drawings (unsupervised)
- Work to recognised standards / procedures / codes of practice
- Fault diagnosis and rectification using initiative
JOB DESCRIPTION
Qualifications
Must have served a recognised Mechanical trade apprenticeship with City and Guilds or equivalent although this shall not preclude the recruitment of suitable personnel.
Experience Required
3 years post training experience as a Mechanical Fitter/Technician in a petro chemical environment
Duties:
- Must be fully experienced in the performance of the following tasks:
- Reading and interpreting drawings
- Use of portable hand and bench power tools.
- Recognition of equipment
- Recognition of materials.
- Use of simple lifting devices.
- Use of precision measuring tools (verniers, micrometers, d tip gauges etc)
- Use of precision leveling equipment (flexi box alignment equipment, theodolites etc)
- Remedial and routine maintenance associated with:
- Diesel engines
- Centrifugal and rotary pumps
- Compressors
- Valve repairs and overhaul
- Drainage systems
- Mechanical equipment associated with HVAC facilities
- Power generation sets (Rolls Royce)
- Piping systems
- Lining up and leveling vessels and equipment
- Lining up and leveling pumps, compressors, motors turbines, gearboxes, couplings etc.
- Repair of air powered hand tools.
