Position Summary:
Reporting to the VP of Human Resources the Manager, Employee & Labour Relations will provide support, representation and advice for labour and employment related issues. This includes the interpretation and application of collective agreements, grievance handling and resolution, mediation and arbitration as well as various other employee relations matters as they arise.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Providing expert advice and assistance in collective bargaining and grievance/arbitration proceedings
- Providing sound Employee & Labour relations advice to HR, management and senior executives
- Ensuring the organization is compliant with all employment-related/labour legislation
- Conducting workplace investigations and recommending options for resolution
- Ensuring that all processes and procedures adhere to Province/State Legislation standards and recommending enhancements where identified
- Developing and implementing new policies and procedures
- Effectively introducing change management practices for business success
Role Specifications:
- 10 years relevant industry experience
- Demonstrated experience in applying labour and employee relations to the workplace
- Knowledge of Canadian Legislation
- Knowledge of US Legislation would be an asset
- Excellent communication skills, including negotiation, influencing and presentation skills
- Working knowledge of MS Office programs
- Industrial Relations Degree would be an asset

- You are able to maintain a high integrity of confidential information
- You have superior coaching skills
- You are able to build, foster, and maintain positive and beneficial relationships with colleagues as well as other internal/external clients
