Role synopsis
The Business Analyst is responsible for capturing specific business processes, technical and functional requirements within both operational and project-based IT workstreams. They will contribute to the delivery of the business’ IT agenda through working closely with client business stakeholders and other IT&S/ IT&SiF teams to develop detail for the IT Strategy, and specific project requirements.
Key accountabilities
• Responsible for Bill of IT, roadmaps, and project details within and across the portfolio’s
• Analyze and map Business Processes and identify opportunities for business process improvement
• Developing IT-related detail in support of the business’ delivery of the project business case
• Using Business Analysis tools and techniques to contribute to the effective analysis and delivery of a project, for example
• Benefits identification and validation (i.e. Business case justification)
• Requirements validation (Functionality, systems, interfaces etc)
• System design (Data modelling, functionality, GUI, interfaces etc)
• Developing testing materials (Test cases/script, UAT plan, Test data)
• Organising UAT with Business, Vendors, SI, IT&S teams
• Developing operations and training materials
• Managing and organising workshops with the business to capture key project data and analyzing the results
• Interpreting business requirements and developing detailed process proposals along with the effective implementation of the process proposals
• Evaluation of technology and business solutions for projects in conjunction with solution architects
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Experience in working within corporate and central functions i.e. Communications, Indirect Procurement, Safety and Operations and Finance / Tax
Experience in business process analysis and IT systems definition
• Experience of full project life-cycle delivery and benefits realisation
• Experience of working with software development and release teams within large IT environments
• A drive for, and demonstrable experience of, delivering continuous improvement
• Experience with a variety of analysis methodologies (eg: UML, SSADM)
