Job Description:
Truck, Rail & Logistics Solutions (TRLS) is the global logistics center of excellence creating a competitive advantage for [Company]  by delivering optimized transportation logistics solutions across the entire value chain - from inbound transportation of chemicals, materials, and feedstocks to [Company] ' facilities to outbound delivery of products to distributors, marketers, and consumers - that are safe, reliable, low cost and meet the business needs.  TRLS will leverage its expertise by actively managing freight on procured materials purchases both domestically and internationally through a global freight management process in partnership with global procurement, that consolidates freight forwarding and ocean freight activities and supports both domestic US and international capital project materials procurement, while supporting the Company's strategy of building value through an integrated approach.
 
The Logistics Specialist may be responsible for:
Ensuring that an optimal level of gasoline inventory is available by analyzing sales trends, market conditions, and usage data to perform inventory management within the Fuel Quest system to minimize retains and run-outs.
Ensuring optimal combination of carrier and terminal selection to provide freight cost efficiencies.
Maintaining a high level of customer service by managing day-to-day activities with internal/external customers, including daily interface with marketing and/or other customer operations, carriers and terminals to resolve customer and supply issues.
Complying with state, federal and local legal requirements by managing gasoline inventories and advising management on needed actions.
Monitoring, analyzing and ensuring safe scheduled delivery workload by determining availability of trucks; site storage restrictions; carrier compartment size options; supply point options; delivery time requirements; scheduling availability; traffic and weather conditions.
Providing supply point changes by coordinating with Commercial Schedulers and carriers to minimize delivery disruptions.
Providing high level of customer service to accommodate changes in operating environment such as terminal outages, ASAPs, cancellations, rolled loads, truck break down, etc.
Coordinating the resolution of difficult issues as they arise; typically involving customers, terminal, carrier personnel, the field sales force and/or other departments within [Company] .
Investigating, documenting and providing solutions based on root cause analysis methodology.
Contributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
 
Qualifications:
Legally authorized to work in the United States
High School diploma/GED
Must be willing and able to work 12 hour shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays
 
Preferred:
Education - Bachelor's degree preferred.
1 year of experience working:
With Transportation, light oil business and/or customer service.
In a scheduling environment
Analyzing, interpreting and providing solutions with sales trend data
As an independent contributor, with little supervision
In a team environment
Strong communications skills required. Candidate must be able to demonstrate good writing/listening skills as well as the ability to present/influence others.
Planning and organizational skills - are required in order to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast paced environment.
Teamwork - candidate must be a team player focused on contributing to the organization in achieving results and must have the ability to influence, network and deliver on commitments/guide others toward desired results.
Creative & Innovative must be able to see the big picture and also work multiple details.
Leadership - candidate must have demonstrated ability to use strong interpersonal skills and lead.
Proficient (perform the skill with limited assistance) in Microsoft Office, SAP and Fuel Quest.
