JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for managing all phases of CCGT project development up to financial close for specifically assigned projects located in either PJM, NEPOOL or ERCOT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1.   The Director-Project Development will be responsible for the planning and execution of project development from project inception to financial closure.
2.   Manage a multi-disciplinary team of internal Calpine resources and external consultants to implement the development of assigned projects.
3.   Coordinate the program to develop a conceptual design, prepare cost estimates and create a financial proforma for each project.
4.   Lead EPC bid process, valuation and resulting contract negotiations. Additionally, participate/support negotiations of other project development and implementation agreements.
5.   Coordinate development activities with Origination, Trading, Structuring, Finance, Legal, Operations, etc. to ensure thorough analysis and appropriate structuring of projects.
6.   Schedule tasks and prepare regular progress reports.
7.   Prepare presentations to Senior Management in all functional areas as requested.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

1.    CCGT development experience and success in PJM or NEPOOL is strongly preferred.
2.    Bachelors degree, MBA preferred.
3.    Minimum of 7 years increasingly responsible experience in the development and/or management of power projects.
4.    Solid understanding of contract documentation.
5.     Substantial experience analyzing and negotiating complex commercial documentation.
6.     Familiarity with permitting process.
7.     Familiarity with electric transmission and interconnection contracting.
8.     Familiarity with power plant operations.
9.     Ability to take initiative and work independently.
10.   Must have an entrepreneurial attitude and a diplomatic approach.
 11.    Willingness to travel frequently.
