The Finance Control Manager (FCM) will be responsible for ensuring that the business results for the Europe & Africa region for Marine, Energy and Aviation businesses are recorded and reported with integrity, transparency and in a timely manner. The FCM will also ensure that the region has an effective system of financial control and will co-ordinate and liaise with the other Regional FCM’s within AIME to ensure a consistent approach to the control agenda is implemented and monitored within the OU.
The role reports to the AIME Finance Manager and is a member of the AIME Finance Leadership Team. The remit is Europe & Africa for Marine, Energy and Aviation businesses, a very large footprint with multiple touch points both in the business and outside – country accounting teams, COEs and BSC.
Key accountabilities
The Europe & Africa FCM will be the key link between Finance and the business teams within the region and will specifically be accountable for the following:
- Ensuring that local Finance staff in BSC/CoEs and service providers meet their commitments in ensuring that the control and financial reporting processes and results for the region are executed in a timely basis and in accordance with [Company] Group Accounting Policies;
- Ensuring local business leadership have their control and reporting needs met, providing effective and timely advice to the business on application of accounting policy and compliance with local legislation over financial reporting, accounting and control;
- Establishing, maintaining and monitoring effective and efficient financial controls and processes across the region. This includes ensuring that appropriate Delegation of Authorities, CET self-assessment, quarterly due diligence, balance sheet integrity, code of conduct compliance, risk identification and mitigation and other control requirements are embedded within the region;
- Building strong relationships with BSC, CoE, service providers and external auditors; fostering an environment where accounting issues can be easily raised and discussed;
- Facilitating E&Y, CAR, Group Audit and Group Control requirements, implementing corrective actions as agreed;
- Acting as key point of contact for Tax and [Company] Finance functions in the region;
- Consulting with Segment Accounting Policy Team when a significant or non-routine transaction is contemplated/occurs, ensuring all relevant facts and circumstances needed to make an accounting determination are gathered and considered; ensuring issues resolved in timely manner
- Leadership and co-ordination of the global OU due diligence LRA for the AIME Finance Manager, DoA interpretation and regular monitoring reviews and SOX compliance programmes for AIME OU;
- As a member of the AIME Finance Leadership Team, playing a key part in delivering the control agenda
- Represent AIME on the SPU’s Finance Control Managers network
Essential criteria & qualifications
- Recognised national or international professional accountancy qualification e.g.,CIMA, ACCA, ACA, CPA.
- Strong and proactive communication skills are imperative for this role with a strong track record of developing and maintaining effective relationship management.
- Proven leadership skills with an ability to lead teams in a cross cultural environment together with a deep experience of internal control and financial reporting.
