Overview:
[Company]’s IT Security organization is responsible for centralized coordination and oversight of the IT security program. The IT Security Architecture manager is a critical member of the information security team, as they are fully accountable for managing the necessary resources, including financial resources, to establish and maintain an effective IT security architecture. This is a leadership role that requires an individual with a strong IT technical and cyber security background, as well as the ability to work with the other IT and business management to align priorities and plans with key business objectives.
The IT Security Architecture Manager will direct a team of technical individuals, who are responsible for engineering security solutions and related processes around networks, systems, end-point devices, applications and data. This role also interacts with operational security staff to incorporate new technologies, applications and security systems into operational workflows.
The successful candidate must have demonstrated knowledge of cyber security technologies and best practices, including network security devices, encryption, identity management, access controls, security event management, etc, and the interest and experience to work on security architecture.
Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain an enterprise security architecture that is in line with enterprise policy and security goals.
- Author and maintain cyber security architectural roadmaps, security product roadmaps and standards.
- Provide leadership and direction for the integration of security strategy and architecture with business and IT strategy.
- Integrate and align IT security components into a systematic process to ensure Cyber security and information protection goals and objectives are reached
- Consult with IT to ensure that security is factored into the evaluation, selection, installation and configuration of networks, hardware, applications, end-point devices, databases and software.
- Work with Management to develop budget projections based on short- and long-term goals and objectives.
- Oversee the research, evaluation, design, and testing, and implementation of new or updated information security hardware or software, and analyze its impact on the existing environment.
- Work with the enterprise architecture team and other IT groups to ensure that compliance is built into systems architecture and to identify, evaluate and select security solutions to meet security/compliance needs.
- Respond to security control failures reported by auditors, incident response teams, IT risk team, etc.
- May require overnight travel less than 20-25% of the time.
Desired Skills/ Knowledge:
- Be experienced with a strong understanding of tools, technologies, security strategies and their implications on the broader business environment.
- Have in-depth knowledge and understanding of information risk concepts and principles as a means of relating business needs to security controls.
- Have knowledge of and experience in developing and documenting security architecture and plans.
- Have an excellent understanding of information protection and Cyber security concepts, protocols, industry best practices and strategies.
- Have experience working with legal, audit and compliance staff.
- Have experience developing procedures, standards and guidelines.
- Have experience with common information security management frameworks, such as International Standards Organization (ISO) 17799/27001, the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and Control Objectives for Information and Related Technology (CobiT) frameworks.
- Knowledge of NIST and other security initiatives geared towards cyber security of critical infrastructures.
- Have strong project management skills, and experience in creating and managing project plans, including budgeting and resource allocation.
- Have excellent technical knowledge of mainstream operating systems (for example, Microsoft Windows and Unix/Linux) and a wide range of security technologies, such as network security appliances, identity and access management systems, anti-malware (malicious software) solutions, automated policy compliance and desktop security tools.
- Good business process knowledge and understanding of business drivers and business objectives to translate them into security requirements
- Strong analytical skills to analyze security requirements and relate them to appropriate security controls
- Ability to interact with IT and business personnel and build strong relationships at all levels, and across all business units and organizations, and to understand business imperatives
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with the IT organization, project and application development teams, management and business personnel
Qualifications:
Degree: Bachelors Required
Major: Information Systems, Computer Science, or other security related
Computer Proficiencies: General computer efficiencies, including Windows and Linux.
Certifications: (one or more)
- Information System Security Architecture Professional (ISSAP)
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
- Certified Information Security Manager (CISM)
- SANS Global Incident Analysis Center (GIAC)
- Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE)
- Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP)
- Work Experience: Minimum 8-12 years IT experience, with five years in an information security role and at least three in a supervisory capacity.
