Job Description:
Our Fort McMurray client is looking for a senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer for a one year contract. The senior Civil/Structural Field Engineer will be responsible for handling the civil work for an on-site project. Majority of work experience must be site experience, either as a field engineer or in construction management.
As the Civil/Structural Field engineer, you will report to the Project manager in all matters relating to monitoring and appraising the contractor's execution of construction work for a structural steel refurbishment project.
Duties:
- Appraise the contractor's performance in the planning and execution of the engineering, design drafting and procurement of construction quality, cost and schedule.
- Recommend corrective action to be taken where deficiencies in the contractor's performance are uncovered and verify that actions are taken.
- Review designs, technical bid evaluations and vendor's prints ( as appropriate).
- Participate in technical reviews with contractor and vendor personnel.
- Act as engineering liaison with the Site by scheduling /coordinating timely site reviews, making certain authorized changes are incorporated into the work.
- Interpret job specifications in cases where it may be ambiguous or incomplete
- Review and endorse contractors purchase recommendations
- Review and endorse subcontracts issued by the contractors
- Manage change requests and change authorizations. Approve change authorizations within prescribed limits.
- Assist as requested on matters related to the project execution.
- Keep project manager informed
- Follow-up on all matters related to Quality control and assurance
- Coordinate all field request information
- Provide support to construction team via updates arrangement of Rick assessments
- Management of change coordination
- Coordinate project issues, decisions, risks, opportunities, problems logs
Qualifications:
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering with at least 10 years of experience or a Civil Engineering Technology diploma with 15 years of experience.
- P Eng preferred, however focus will be given to prior oilsands field engineering experience
- Must have prior oilsands site experience
* LOA will be provided as long as you are not a permanent resident in the Fort McMurray area.
