Position Overview
[Employer][C][/C] is a multidiscipline engineering, geomatics and planning professional services consulting firm with offices throughout Western Canada. We are currently seeking a Plan Checker to join our team in Fort St John, B.C.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Drafting and Mapping Manager, you will be responsible for:
- Checking a variety of drafting and mapping products, mainly related to oilfield projects
- Maintaining up to date knowledge and skills related to Plan Checking duties and current drafting/mapping standards and plan/map requirements
- Maintaining proficiency using various online government and industry resources to verify tenure research relative to plan/map details
- Assisting with organization and coordination of work for off-site (remote) Plan Checkers
- Undertaking special assignments as directed by the Drafting and Mapping Manager
Requirements
As the successful candidate, you:
- Are able to use Autocad Map and MS Office programs to a fully qualified level
- Possess above average interpersonal communication skills and are able to effectively interact with a variety of positions and personalities
- Possess strong time management skills and are able to identify and set priorities
- Have excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
- Are able to read and interpret information presented in a variety of formats (survey plans, maps, field notes, diagrams, orthophotos, tables, internet sources, etc)
- Maintain a high attention to detail and are able to work for long periods of intense concentration while performing computer related work and reviewing printed material
- Have a diploma from a recognized Geomatics program, would be an asset
- Understanding the basic principles of surveying and survey plan requirements for BC would be considered an asset
- Previous knowledge and understanding of the PNG grid system and Peace River Block would be considered an asset
- Previous experience in the preparation of survey related plan and maps for the oil and gas sector in BC would be considered an asset
