Job Description:
This position is a fixed term contract for four years and will be working for the first 18 months in Houston or the UK and then the project will be transferred to Qatar .
For the first 18 months the candidate will have to go on a single status on a 12/2 rotation. You will receive a monthly salary along with a comprehensive benefits package which will include housing, transportation etc. The salary and package will be discussed in depth with the candidate at interview.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead the Owner’s Process Engineering effort for the execution phase of a $1.0bn+ CapEx project in Ras Laffan City, Qatar. The objective of the project is to recover LNG boil-off gas being flared at the LNG loading terminal.
- The Process Engineer will be based at the EPCM contractor’s offices with a possibility of transferring to the Site when engineering is essentially complete.
- The biggest challenge is the lack of EPCM contractor’s skilled and experienced resources.
- Primary responsibility is the review of all process engineering deliverables of the EPCM contractor and provision of timely guidance to the EPCM contractor on all process engineering related matters.
- Support the other PMT engineering disciplines and construction, commissioning and operations teams
Primary Accountabilities:
- Reports to Engineering Manager.
- Review and monitor process design.
- Coordinate site data gathering activities and provides interface with Contractor.
- Coordinate the engineering aspects of the project process design in support of the project objectives, including coordinating input from other specialist.
- Assist with and /or lead resolution of project issues in particular those involving process alternatives.
- Monitor contractors process design performance and provides advice to ensure Company’s design goals, design philosophy and specifications are achieved.
- Monitors and reviews contractor’s process engineering effort and offers recommendations to Engineering Manager and Project Engineers.
- Coordinate and/or provide timely review of contractor’s process designs and deliverables.
- Coordinates and/or provide support to the procurement and construction activities.
- Supports risk management activities such as Design Risk Assessment and HAZOP.
- Provide support to Operations and Commissioning advisors.
- Provide support / validation in regards to Engineering doubts and concerns / warranty claims.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum of ten (10) years technical experience in process discipline and at least five (5) years specific involvement in project and major process facilities working on behalf of an International Oil Company.
- Experience with first tier contractors and vendors, in particular, those involved in the construction of onshore facilities, is essential, preferably working on behalf of the Owner.
- Experience with Gas Processing and LNG Processes.
- Bachelor of Science in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Extensive knowledge of LNG, Boil-off and Gas Processing Technology
- Good team skills
- Good organizational skills
- Good supervisory skills
