[Company] provides customer care and billing services to over 600,000 regulated power customers and third party providers of power, natural gas, water waste and drainage in Alberta.
 
Public & Government Affairs is looking for a skilled and professional Sr. Communications Advisor to provide strategic and tactical leadership in the design, development and implementation of communication plans, materials, systems and tools to Energy Services.  Reporting to the Sr. Manager, Operational Communications you will ensure that communications meet Energy Services' regulatory responsibilities, enhance service quality and customer satisfaction, and foster effective working relationships with internal and external customers.
 
The major areas of responsibility you fulfill in this dynamic position include, but are not limited to: 
 
  • Determine communication goals and develop plans to meet Energy Services unique needs; 
  • Represent Energy Services in a professional manner as a respected member of the Communications community;
  • Work collaboratively with Business Unit and Corporate management as well as externally with members of regulatory bodies, municipal governments, and third party customers;
  • Delegate, develop, design, write, edit and/or review and approve a variety of appropriate communications materials (print, web, educational, multi-media) such as:  external customer education newsletters, collateral, bill inserts and messages, web-site content, marketing materials, and internal communications in the form of announcements, scripting for Customer Service Consultants, and presentations;
  • Design and manage communication applications, databases and sites, such as Sharepoint and Energy Services Websites.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of Energy Services communication strategies, services and products;
  • Provide input into the Business Units communication budget; approve operational budget expenditures and report on variances when required;
  • Media relations for customer concerns.
 
Job Requirements   
 
  • You have a comprehensive amount (four to five years) of directly-related professional communications experience and a post-secondary degree in communications, marketing, administration and/or public relations.  In addition, you have a minimum of two years of directly-related project/staff supervisory experience in the communications field. Knowledge and proficiency in MS Office products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.

  • Are a proficient at multi-tasking with exceptional project management and problem solving skills, with a concern for accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in the electrical utilities or telecommunications industry, a background in a customer-focused environment, membership in the Canadian Public Relations Society and/or International Association of Business Communicators are considered assets.
