Evaluates external market forces which affect the companys ability to execute on programs, plans and strategies.
Detailed Description:
Identifies and analyzes industry and market trends which influence the companys ability to execute on plans and strategies
Commodity markets supply & demand
Infrastructure and market capacity
Service costs
Political and regulatory environments
Provides in-depth analysis of peer group companies strategies and performance
Works with planning analyst to ensure external environmental analysis is incorporated in companys long range plans
Provides external analysis to various corporate planning, strategy, banking, and investor exercises throughout the year
Provides financial modeling support to other major project evaluations, including acquisitions and new ventures opportunities
Contributes to special studies assessing other new or unique business opportunities
Job Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in Finance/Accounting plus five years of relevant experience; Masters in Business Administration or Finance is preferred
- Prior experience in investment banking or related field preferred
- Must be familiar with basic technical and financial principles and evaluation techniques used in the energy industry
- Strong proficiency in Excel - both usage and modeling capability. Ability to learn new software applications quickly.
- Must be a self-starter with a strong work ethic. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and meet short deadlines.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal and influencing skills, and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality
