Overview:
The Core/Systems & Support team requires an Acquisition & Disposition Technician to become part of the central group supporting Well Operations Compliance (WOC), Business Units and Corporate teams through the reconciliation and quality control of EnCana’s Well Asset Management system (CWS), by the identification and addition of new licensed non-operated wells and all system changes resulting from A&D activities
Responsibilities:
- Update CWS system with newly licensed non-operated wells and add entitlement data to eWatch well data tracking system.
- Receives all Acquisition and Disposition land/well schedules from A&D groups within Land and Corporate teams. Verifies well list using data vendor to identify additional wells or zones.
- Review land schedules, clarifies details.
- Notify appropriate Land group or Corporate A&D team of differences or discrepancies.
- Advise as required of well licence transfer requirements for zonal dispositions
- Run reports to review government licensee amendments, ensure applicable land documentation obtained, follow up as required
- Receives and reviews final Purchase and Sale Agreements and Well Licence transfers. Updates asset management system and follow up after monthly Government update occurs
- Track all A&D deals and work closely with Records Management group to provide deal updates, ensuring compliance to established retention schedules
- Represent and provide updates to Well Operations Compliance from the Corporate A&D Project Team. Attend meetings and provide input as required
- Identify and provide all electronic formats of operations data for dispositions. Work with internal IT system support
- Responsible for ensuring the interface between CWS and the land system is working correctly. Notify IT and perform all resulting systems testing when required
- Run reports and handle errors resulting from Land to asset system interface updates. Follow up as required
- Identify inconsistencies or issues based on understanding of data flow from asset system to other systems
- Provides update/research support to Well Operations Compliance as required for well interest assignments or queries
- Produce Business Objects reports to ensure quality control on wells/deals requiring follow up to maintain accuracy and consistency accross asset management systems
Qualifications:
- 2 to 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry is required
- Proven experience in mineral land, a very good working knowledge of land contracts/agreements relating to acquisitions and divestitures and surface rentals is required
- A very good understanding of the well operations life cycle from License-to-Abandonment; including both the understanding of related well data types and the data/information sharing obligations is an asset
- Industry related courses focused on drilling, completions or workovers and/or proven experience, with an understanding of geological formations and how they relate to land would be an asset
- Experience with ERCB guides/regulations an asset
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills to interact with IT, Land, Corporate A&D, Well Operations Compliance staff and BU’s
- Should be proficient with various MS applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Access) and experience in performing systems updates
- Previous experience and knowledge of the following business applications/software is also an asset: CWS, ReqSys (Well Requirement Tracking System), Business Objects Reporting Tool
- Manage time effectively and be disciplined to work independently, meeting frequent daily/weekly/monthly deadlines; attention to detail is essential
