Overview:
The Corporate Legal Group has a rewarding and challenging opportunity for Human Resources and Immigration Counsel within their team. In this key role, you will provide daily legal advice across a broad range of oil and gas human resources matters, including a wide variety of employment law, human rights, and related contractual matters, as well as provide legal support in respect of corporate business travel and immigration, including work permits (Canadian and U.S.) and general corporate immigration matters.
The successful candidate will function as an integral part of the Corporate Legal team, and will interact regularly with a wide variety of professions and disciplines, including lawyers, human resources and business personnel in the Company's operating divisions.
Responsibilities:
- provide quality, timely and cost effective legal advice
- provide legal support to human resources advisors on day-to-day employment matters
- provide corporate support in respect of business travel and corporate immigration matters
- maintain positive working relationships within the Corporate Legal group, Human Resources community and operating divisions
Qualifications:
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- minimum 8 years experience at the Alberta Bar
- LLB degree and membership in the Law Society of Alberta
- extensive experience in providing legal advice on human resources and corporate immigration matters
- solid background in broad based oil and gas environment
- strong drafting and contract review skills
- excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- strong organizational and prioritization skills, including the ability to balance competing demands in a timely and effective manner
- ability to work efficiently and effectively with a variety of disciplines and across all levels of the organization as a productive team member
