Overview:
Our Medicine Hat Oil Property Team has an opportunity for an Contract Oil Operator. The primary responsibility of this position is to effectively participate as a team member in the operation and maintenance of our oil wells and facilities in Brooks/Medicine Hat area, Alberta.
The operations team ensures the maximum performance of production equipment, instrumentation and facilities, while managing the day-to-day operation of wells, pipelines, multi-well batteries, sour gas processing facilities and water injection facilities. The successful applicant must be willing to reside in the Brooks/Medicine Hat area.
Responsibilities:
- responsible for assisting the Operations team to manage day-to-day operation of wells, pipelines, multi-well batteries, sour-gas processing facilites and water injection facilities
- provide well and facility monitoring and maintenance
- complete production accounting with PVR
- assist with production optimization, trouble shooting and equipment maintenance
- work in a team atmosphere and take on a variety of operating challenges
- willing to work extra hours and be on-call as required
- understand and perform safety, environmental and regulatory responsibilitites, such as hazard identification, equipment lockout, emergency response and safe work procedures
- identify and scope out opportunities to maximize production, minimize operating costs and eliminate downtime
- perform housekeeping, performance monitoring and maintenance activities
Qualifications:
- must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- this is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of the EnCana Alcohol and Drug policy, which includes pre-assignment testing
- minimum of 3 years experience as a Oil/Gas production operator
- strong field/plant operating background with knowledge of PCPs, ESPs and rod pumps
- Polymer and C02 EOR experience an asset
- strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills
- well developed communication skills
- ability to work within a team environment
- posses a valid Class 5 drivers license (drivers abstract is required)
- First Aid, CPR, TDG, WHMIS and H2S certifications
- proficient in MS Office Suite
