The Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) IT (IT&S) team develop and maintain trading and support applications.
These applications are developed, tested and run on complex integrated IT environments.
The Environment Services (ES) team is responsible for the supply, configuration, scheduling and management of these environments, as well as supplying environment related standards, design and testing services.
The use and re-use of common testing standards and tools (scripts, stubs, test data sets etc.) is vital to ensure the efficient and predictable utilisation of the IT environments (especially where environments are complex and shared across projects).
The Testing Services Manager role is accountable for maintaining and enforcing these testing standards and tools to be used by the development and maintenance teams.
In addition the role leads specific test execution services (performance testing, non-functional testing and integration testing). These services are delivered through an outsourced partner.
The team the role leads consists of: a lead testing analyst, a test capability manager and a testing tools analyst. In addition the role is accountable for the outsourced test execution service resources (consisting of approximately 8-10 people)
The role reports to the ES Manager, and is a peer of the other ES Team Managers: delivery management, performance and planning, standards and design, testing services, database and system administration and application operational support.
Key accountabilities
• Definition and ensuring of testing standards and tools usage to a world class level.
• Create and maintain stakeholder engagement with the various projects and ensure their testing requirements are understood and managed to and they understand the testing standards and adhere to them.
• Developing the capability and the service’s engagement model to ensure forecasts are met.
• Implement a service for continual improvement and development in respect of technical testing
• Work with outsource vendors to ensure IST’s testing approach is understood and we are maximizing the value from our partnerships with the vendors.
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Experience of leading a shared testing service function, including definition and enforcement of testing standards and building and maintaining a testing capability (people, tools, re-useable scripts, stubs, data etc.)
• Implementing Technical Test Automation: Experience of generation, collation, analysis and interpretation of results from testing tools.
• Testing in a Tibco or other EAI middleware architecture
• Experience of testing distributed systems - Including Performance, Stress, Load, Fail Over and Operational testing techniques.
• Experience of leading large and complex teams including all aspects of line management. Ideally this experience would include managing virtual and offshore resources.
• Project Management - developing test work plans and leading a team in delivering to those plans.
• Managing internal customer’s relationships.
• Experience of working within at least 3 large-scale programmes or projects (a mixture of in house development and package implementation would be ideal).
• Tracking and reporting quantitative and qualitative aspects of error reporting.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and management using tools.

Desirable criteria & qualifications
• A professional testing qualification (e.g. ISEB)
• Using Mercury (HP) tools.
• Managing off-shore or external test and/or development teams.
• Ability to communicate effectively and liaise on a technical level with Analysts, Designers, Operational Staff and Developers.
• Knowledge of financial/trading systems.
• Experience of trading in oil, gas or power would be a benefit.
• ITIL Practitioner Qualification.
