Role synopsis
The Integrated Supply and Trading (IST) IT (IT&S) team develop and maintain trading and support applications.
These applications are developed, tested and run on complex integrated IT environments.
The Environment Services (ES) team is responsible for the supply, configuration, scheduling and management of these environments, as well as supplying environment related standards, design and testing services.
The ES Performance and Planning Manager is a key pro-active management role within the ES team. It is responsible for ensuring that the performance of the environment services team and its partners is systematically managed and improved through a clear SLA, KPI, OLA and governance framework. It is also accountable for agreeing, monitoring and managing the ES teams budget, resource plans and software assets.
It is a highly proactive role with accountability for driving service performance management through the formal structures and personal influencing skills and leading planning and budgeting negotiation and integration across all ES clients, resources and partners.
The role leads 3 planning and performance analysts.
The role reports to the ES Manager, and is a peer of the other ES Team Managers: delivery management, change and release, standards and design, testing services, database and system administration and application operational support. The role holder works with these team leaders to ensure necessary and consistent performance management and planning activities are taking place.
Key accountabilities Scope
• The role is accountable for monitoring and agreeing the improvement of all the ES services. This includes the direct ES resources, internal partners and external partners.
• The role is accountable for the entire ES budget planning and management cycle
• The role is accountable for the overall service delivery plan, including the initial plan and managing regular reviews and ad-hoc re-plans.
Delivery
• Agreeing, implementing and running a complete SLA, KPI, OLA base service performance reporting infrastructure
• Implementing and running a set of performance governance processes with clients, ES teams, internal and external partners
• Ensuring that through the reporting and governance mechanisms performance and generic delivery issues are addressed and tangible improvements made.
• Gathering requirements, negotiating and agreeing the ES budget and high level delivery plans.
• Monitoring adherence to the budget and high level delivery plans and facilitating appropriate actions on significant variance.
• Maintaining and efficiently deploying the ES teams software assets (e.g. software licences).
• Providing ad-hoc management information as required.
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Strong influencing skills
• Evidence of quickly identifying and implementing change and improvements in a systematic way (Six sigma, TQM, ITIL Service management experience etc.)
• Experience of managing an internal or external partner though a formal governance structure and SLA/OLAs
• Managing a complex budget where funding is from several sources and internally and external costs are included.
• Managing a complex resource plan (large programmes)
