Key accountabilities
Delivery
• Manage the delivery of functional updates and maintenance releases according to the time and budget of the ILT Programme and its customers requirements.
• Project Management of the Architecture, Development and Test teams, comprising of up to 10 people
• As a priority, ensure that the solution delivered meets (and exceeds) the non-functional requirements of the [Company] IST users
• Ensure high-quality solutions to new requirements, that meet the functional requirements of all IST stakeholders and is delivered on time and budget
• Ensure rigorous development and test processes and standards are implemented within the programme
• Design and develop the necessary tools to support the migration from old to new solution
• Scope management through a rigorous change control process
• Report progress and raise issues with the programme manager in a timely manner
• Proactively manage risks and issues relating to the technical solution delivery
Planning and Budgeting
• Establish cost and resource profiles associated with the completion of the technical delivery work-stream
• Resource planning across development, test and architecture
• The development of integrated plans for architecture, development and testing
Leadership
• Providing leadership and vision to the team in order to motivate, increase intra-team interaction and manage team morale.
• They must be able to communicate at a deep technical level with those internal to the project whilst also communicating with less technical stakeholders and customers
• Ensuring delivery of people basics, including coaching, developing and appraising [Company] permanent direct reports
• Project management of architecture, development and test teams across the programme
Customer and Supplier Management
• Management of the relationships with all suppliers involved with the delivery of the IL3 solution
• Working with Portfolio Planning team align releases with other programmes and projects across IST
• Communicate and provide transparency of the solution delivery plans and approaches to customers, stakeholders and suppliers
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Proven experience in project and programme management, managing multi-disciplinary multi-location teams to quality, time and cost targets
• Strong development background with proven experience managing software delivery and development. Knowledge of the full software delivery lifecycle. Specifically experience working as a Developer, Designer, Software Engineer or Architect, not just management of others performing these roles
• Experience and knowledge of the middleware requirements for energy trading organisations; particular knowledge of [Company] IST is an advantage
• Experience managing 3rd party or off-shore development and testing activities
• Experience of managing combined development and test teams of over 20 people
• A track record of successful project delivery
• A track record of delivering correct and functioning code and other deliverables
• Strong project planning and co-ordination skills in a complex and rapidly changing technical environment
• Demonstrated experience of managing permanent staff carrying-out appraisals, performance monitoring and personal development
• Demonstrated experience managing third party staff (contractors and managed service providers and offshore suppliers)
• Project Management certification (Prince II, APMP or PMI) is essential.
• Industry recognised qualification(s) in either Development, Architecture or Testing
• Experience of working in a trading environment
• Excellent oral, presentation and written communication
• Maintains poise under pressure and weighs priorities with competing importance and urgency
• Excellent team player, used to achieving success through others.
• Driven to realise results – not letting anything (within reason) stand in the way of progress and achieving committed goals
• A track record of identifying innovative, evolutionary and revolutionary opportunities for improvement

• Business case and benefit realisation development
