This role will be accountable for generating the following outcomes:
 
• Maintain and grow [Company]  product off-take, marketing and supply through insightful relationships that enable our Global product trading teams deploy more competitive mutually advantaged spot, term and tender offers. This will require the development and maintenance of strong industry relationships along with an in depth understanding of product specifications, blending, counter parties configurations, issues, processing capabilities, needs and options.
• To identify and support the origination of longer term (>1 yr) structured product offtake and supply positions that provide stronger base flows that generate stable income, sound bases for wider regional and local discretionary trading and/or strategic growth options.
• Enhance operational an tactical relationships private and public sector companies (PSUs) in order to access an improved trading environment and enhanced [Company] participation in structured and spot flows of crude and products.
 
We have a need for a local professional Product Marketer to provide the face of our global crude team to the Indian market. The role holder will be expected to lead certain crude and product account relationships as well as cover for colleagues. A sound understanding of products, especially MoGas, Fuel Oil and Naphtha will be expected. Gasoil/Jet/LPG knowledge will be beneficial along with demonstrated ability to work within a multifaceted and dispersed team. The role will be based in [Location] with regular travel expected to other major Indian cities, wider South Asia and Singapore.
 
Key accountabilities
• Originate and support product supply and marketing opportunities in India and South Asia in line with HSSE, Regulatory, compliance Operational, Origination Marketing and Trading standards.
• Gather and distribute fundamental supply, capacity, capability and demand data for Indian refinery production and alternative product suppliers where relevant. Ensure country product fundamental analysis is up to date.
• Provide relevant insight into market sentiment and competitive behaviour.
• Work with respective traders originators to position spot, term, tender and structured offers in a manner that will be competitively advantaged to the counterparty as well as[Company] .
• Originate co-ordinate or support counterparty negotiations within bench cover and subject to bench approval and confirmation.
• Act as relationship manager for some customer accounts and support the wider relationship management of other accounts. This will include but not be limited to account and relationship development, issue and significant opportunity management and aligning/informing of cross bench conversations and insight.
• Subject to assessed training and delegations of authority, market risk management offers to Indian and South Asian customers.
• Contribute regional perspective of opportunities and threats into web strategy evolution as part EH GO SPP and professional contributions to the wider Commercial Development Community.
 
 
Essential criteria & qualifications
 
Industry Knowledge
• 5 or more years crude supply, marketing or trading Oil Industry experience with a strong bias for commercial refining and wholesale marketing experience and track record.
• Skilful appreciation of marketing & refining value chain processes, operational considerations.
• Skilful application of product specifications, blending and feedstock options. LP understanding will be beneficial. Sound understanding application of alternative sales & purchase agreements, nomination processes and pricing mechanisms.
• Identifies, structures and executes offers that integrate stakeholder interest
• Skilful transaction management understanding and capabilities
 
Fundamentals Knowledge
• Skilful understanding and application of economic drivers of 3rd parties and associated risks
• Able to communicate an expert understanding of domestic and regional product markets
 
Commercial Acumen
• Commercially astute and innovative with a track record of product commercial delivery.
• Strong negotiation skills with experience in identifying the key issues and potential solutions
• Gains new insights by challenging fixed assumptions.
 
Technical Capability
• Skilful commercial aptitude to identify commercial requirements, risks and requirements to successfully develop and transact an opportunity
• Optional – skilful understanding of risk management tools and techniques
 
Relationship Management
• Strong (Mastery sought) Indian relationship management skills with track record of developing trust and generating value from key relationships
• Ability to build strong internal relationships with Trading, Marketing and Origination colleagues.
• Proven skilful ability to influence people at all levels and challenge traditional thinking.
• Basic application of Business Awareness – demonstrates clear understanding of business context of the company and SPU, covering relationships, customer needs and competitors
 
Leadership and Teamwork
• Self starter, proactive and taking initiative
• Skilful Team player, able to build effective working relationships across teams and third parties.
• Performance bias with an ability to overcome obstacles, make decisions and drive the project to conclusion. Capable of subsequent operational performance management
• Excellent Hindi, other local dialects and clear English communication skills (both written and oral)
• Builds networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge.
 
Strategic Initiative
• Strategically aware and able to use strategy to drive choice with an ability to translate strategies into actions and the timely delivery of business results.
 
Risk Management and Assurance
• Readily able to identify risk exposures and propose mitigation strategies
 
Desirable criteria & qualifications
Educational profile is less important than behaviours and track history of high relationship management and performance.
