Job Description:
Provides occupational health services to Baton Rouge/Chalmette (LA) area.
Reporting Relationships:
- Reports to Site Occupational Health Manager-Baton Rouge
- No direct reports
- Professional supervision of Registered Nurses (RN) and technicians as required by state law
Typical Job Functions/Responsibilities:
- Evaluate physical and mental health of employees, and employee's ability to work, with consideration of the safety of the employee and others
- Determine fitness requirements of employment, specific work assignments or partial or permanent disability to assure the capability of the worker to perform his/her job
- Provide and assist with supervision of health services in clinic including acute/emergency care, indicated symptomatic care, medical surveillance/monitoring programs and rehabilitation to ensure compliance with federal and local regulations
- Respond to site emergencies as needed
- Facilitate relationships with local medical providers to ensure prompt, adequate, and appropriate treatment of work-related illnesses/injuries
- Perform case management for employee illnesses/injuries
- Assist with internal and external audits
- Assist site with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) record-keeping decisions
- Communicate with Site Occupational Health Manager-Baton Rouge, other employees, and third parties as required
- Regular and prompt attendance
- Occasional travel
- Other duties as assigned
Background:
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant program required
- Certification and Louisiana licensure as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant required
- Prior experience in Occupational Medicine preferred
Key Skills/Competencies:
- Manage heavy workload with continually changing priorities
- Detailed knowledge of general and occupational medicine, emergency medical response, toxicology, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations applicable to health, and medical/legal issues related to occupational health care
- Comprehensive and up-to-date training to maintain professional licensure (state of practice) and certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
