The Fort McMurray Fire Department would like to invite applicants for the over 20 EMT and EMT-P positions available. Fort McMurray Fire Department serves an urban and rural population approaching 100,000 people. We have three active firehalls and are in the planning stage for a fourth.
The Fort McMurray Fire Department currently has over 100 operational staff members who provide the following services to the region.
- ALS & BLS Emergency Medical Services
- Structural and Wildland Firefighting Fire Prevention,
- Inspections and Investigation Dangerous/Hazardous materials response
- Vehicle extrication
- High Angle/Rope Rescue
- Ice Rescue Helicopter Medivac
- ATV/Snowmobile Rescue
- As a young and growing department, the Fort McMurray Fire Department offers a broad range of training opportunities in all the services we provide and opportunities for advancement within the department.
The following are requirements for EMT and EMT-P applicants,
Required Qualifications:
- Grade 12 Diploma
- Valid Class 4 drivers licence
- Valid HCP BLS Certificate
- Registered with the Alberta College of Paramedics as an EMT or EMT-P.
- Ability to acquire security clearance from a recognized police agency.
- Canadian citizen or permanent residence documentation.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in verbal and written forms

Assets:
- Class 3 or 4 drivers licence with Q endorsement
- NFPA 1001 level I & II (Proboard/IFSAC certified
