Position Summary:
[Employer] Environemental Fluid Services fleet of modern and versatile equipment is designed to enhance removal and transfer of liquid or solid sludge as well as highly compacted underwater materials. This division of [Employer] provides dredge & various tailings & water management services for a diverse clientele throughout Canada.
Reporting to the Dredging Project Manager, you will provide technical and commercial support for the design and construction of industrial size dredges. You will be involved with multiple projects simultaneously with the value of dredges being built ranging up to $10,000,000. Based out of our north east Edmonton shop office, you will be key member of the Dredging Division team to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective project delivery.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generating and maintaining standard drawing templates and related data as per client specifications
- Ensuring all work meets customer requirements; is in compliance with all safety, QA/QC standards, and company procedures
- Coordinating shop drawing approvals and tracking any changes to IFC drawings
- Confirming materials are received as ordered
- Providing Document Control, as all drawings and documents need to be properly managed for approval and ease of retrieval.
- Developing and tracking project schedule
- Tracking official correspondence, ensuring that CEDA requests for information and technical deviations are tracked and resolved
- Tracking of orders and expediting back orders
- Coordinating resources and track expenditures to ensure projects remain on budget, with the assistance of Project Managers
- Working with designs to identify and order materials based on required bills-of-material for dredges in support of construction
- Supporting construction activities by tracking and managing materials
- Cooperating with all internal and external audits and provide progress reports as appropriate
- Building strong working relationships with peers, management and customers
Qualifications:
- Certified Engineering Design and Drafting Technologist from a recognized technical institute
- Minimum 2 years experience in a Project Assitant role or similar
- General knowledge of piping and structural fabrication materials and procedures necessary
- Preferred experience working in the steel and/or heavy equipment construction or manufacturing industry
- Construction, fabrication, or welding experience is preferred along with familiarity with applicable standards & codes
- Previous document control and quality assurance/quality control experience would be an asset
- Previous experience with Primavera software would be an asset
- Superior communication skills and excellent computer/design software skills are required
- Travel to various locations where the dredges are being fabricated and assembled will be required
