Position Summary:
This position is responsible for leading HR’s partnership with managers in the provision of front-line human resources consultation for employee matters in Fort McMurray. Accountable for the deployment of HR consultation and coaching of managers in HR specialty areas of: employee/labour relations, development of local policies and HR practices, talent management: including recruitment/selection, training and career development, performance management and succession planning; and interpretation of polices and plans to Company management and employees.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Partnering with Company leaders in the Fort McMurray region to provide leadership in the development and implementation of new HR and business initiatives
- Collaborating with the Human Resources Management team, developing and executing long-term strategic plans including: workforce and succession planning, employee communication and involvement initiatives, and career pathing
- Partnering with a team of other HR professionals to steer other compensation, employee development, labour relations and organizational initiatives
- Advising and working closely with business managers to oversee all performance management activities
- Coaching managers to ensure the consistent application of policies and procedures
- Keeping abreast of best practices and trends
Minimum Qualifications:
- Certified Human Resources Professional designation in final stage or attained.
- 5 years human resources experience in an HR generalist capacity with 1 to 2 years of leadership experience
- Sound human resources knowledge base and experience with contemporary human resources including: Recruitment/Selection, Employee/Labour Relations, Total Rewards, Job Evaluation, Talent Management, and policy creation
- Strong knowledge of provincial and federal labour and employment laws
- Sound MS Office skills (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
Ideal Candidate:
- Your Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Human Resources is preferred
- Your prior HR experience in an industrial environment is an asset
- You have the ability to coach and/or council others (all levels managers, direct/indirect reports)
- Your negotiation skills and strong ability to influence, enables you to motivate action in others
- You are a self-starter, who takes initiative and looks for process improvements
