Job Description:
- Develop, as needed, the process for annual review of HSE performance & management system.
- Identify and draft HSE strategy and annual plans with the focus on execution and KPI’s
- Lead and support the local management and HSE teams in delivering a continual improvement in the HSE culture at the workplace.
- Promote Health, Safety and Environmental awareness and responsibility through safety meetings, loss prevention teams, communications, onsite visits and training programs.
- Coach, support and instruct management and HSE teams to achieve a high level of HSE capabilities resulting in an integrated approach to safe operations, as well as implementation of compliance processes in alignment with [Company] Corporate HSE standards and local/federal rules and regulations.
- Ensure training programs are developed, modified and implemented as required for all level of employees and any necessary specialized training.
- Establish processes to recognize potential hazards and at-risk behaviors.
- Encourage active participation by all employees in Health, Safety and Environmental processes, including company and regulatory requirements.
- Analyze incident and injury/illness data for targeted HSE activities and oversee development of targeted approaches for reduction of incidents.
- Conducts or directs research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of a given system, operation or process.
- Ensures completion of investigation of severe incidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for the organization’s use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations, as well as lead the review of post-incident management of claims.
- Compiles and submits reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Represents the organization in customer, community or industry safety groups and programs.
- Actively oversee the coaching, mentoring and professional development of local HSE staff.
- Liaise with HSE personnel within other global businesses for strategic planning, to increase teaming and ability for problem resolutions.
- Provide periodic HSE performance reports to management
- Develop, as needed, HSE strategy and objectives for the North America organization.
- Responsible to drive improvement in TRIR and TVIR at all facilities in line with annual objectives.
- Support local management on the monitoring and control of the workers compensation process.
- Liaise with other groups in the organization (risk management, HR, claims management, insurance carrier) to help manage the workers compensation process.
Skills/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year College or university, or five to eight years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired:
- Prefer recognized safety and/or environmental management certifications (e.g. Certified Safety Professional, Certified Environment Practitioner, Certified Environmental Engineer)s
- Minimum 3 years of management experience
- Prefer experience in working within a matrix managed environment
- Experience in oil & gas industry
- Experience with BBS (behavior based systems) is a plus
- Experience with HSE management systems or ISO management systems is a plus.
- Experience in developing an HSE staff
Special requirements:
Ability to travel up to 50% at times
