Demonstrates competence in generating energy and mass balance reports as well as technical data required to specify process equipment.
Possess a broad based knowledge concerning equipment design, sizing, specification, and evaluation.
Relevant equipment includes trayed columns with both traditional and high-performance trays for fractionation service, packed towers for absorption and stripping services, adsorption units, heat transfer equipment, pumps, compressors, and turbo-expanders.
Has a broad based knowledge concerning the development of Process Flow Diagrams, including preparation of stream summary tables generated from computer process simulation software and exported in spreadsheets. PFD development must show process control philosophy in adequate detail to provide the basis for Piping & Instrument Diagram controls illustration.
Has a broad based knowledge and practical experience in the development of Piping & Instrument Diagrams from Process Flow Diagrams.
Demonstrates ability to review vendor and client P&IDs - including controls, line sizing, and pressure safety valve implementation - while working independently.
Possess a broad based knowledge in the field of fluid flow and hydraulics, including two-phase flow and velocity constraints as related to the sizing and design of piping systems.
Possesses ability to utilize line-sizing software.
Possess a broad based knowledge in Line List preparation, including Process Engineering responsibilities concerning normal operating conditions, upset conditions, and the assignment of design temperature and pressure as regulated by the applicable ASME piping code.
Has a broad based knowledge related to the preparation of equipment data sheets, writing process duty specifications for proprietary vendor equipment systems (such as membrane separation units, flare systems, etc.), and analyzing technical bid tabs.
Possess the knowledge to competently evaluate an existing [Company] Standard Design compared to a new customized design for specific customer applications.
Demonstrates a broad based knowledge in safety release analysis, developing emergency relief loads, sizing pressure safety valves, evaluating relief system hydraulics, and analyzing flare size and radiation profiles.
Demonstrates capability of assisting in troubleshooting operational problems in the field and helping to make recommendations to resolve performance deficiencies through experience in plant operations and/or technical service.
Has a broad based knowledge of [Company] engineering and design standards or customer specifications, if available, and be able to apply them to specific projects and tasks.
Possess a broad knowledge of industry standards and has the ability to write and review new [Company] engineering specification and guidelines using common industry standards and best practices.
