We have big expansion plans for our Alberta operations. Along with big plans, comes big opportunity. You will play a crucial role in achieving [Company]'s goal of becoming a leading producer in the Alberta oilsands. The position of R&D intern- mining will work within the Calgary Research Center to assist with the development of a water chemistry model for our [Company] Mine project. In addition the student will have the opportunity to learn about research and the oil sands industry by conducting research reviews on napthenic acids and assisting in the definition of R&D programs in this area. The student will work closely with other members of the R&D team and will have an opportunity to learn how research & development is used to support the design of a large scale oil sands project.
 
  • Work with R&D staff to translate a simplified process flow sheet into a time dependent numerical model based on differential equations to calculate the concentration of different components within selected streams given a set of input data.
  • Conduct a research survey on the types of napthenic acids in process water and technologies for toxicity reduction.
  • Conduct research surveys
  • Contribute to the understanding of water chemistry in the context of oil sands mining.
