POSITION OVERVIEW
The role of Director Construction, [Location] is to provide leadership and guidance to contractors and staff to ensure the effective utilization of their resources in the safe delivery of the project on time and within budget. This position is one of two required to take full responsibility to execute construction management portion of all five silos of the [Location] Stage 3 Dillbit Project Area.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Overall management of [Location] Stage 3 central facilities construction contractors
- Leadership for environment, health and safety performance on behalf of Major Projects at the [Location] site
- Overall responsibility for construction indirect budget and achievement of cost and schedule objectives for the project
- Interface with [Location] Stage 3 Commissioning and Start Up team
- Maintain an engaged construction management team that is aligned with [Company]’s values, beliefs and demonstrate commitment to operational excellence
- Provide co-leadership and direction to up to 120 assigned staff
- Provide support and input to all significant aspects of site administration including, but not limited to:
- Camp/aviation
- Field purchasing and contracts
- Receiving
- Quality Assurance
- Field engineering
- Labour relations
- Aboriginal and Community relations
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
- Over 15 years of total experience including overall responsibility for several large projects ($100 million plus) in the oil and gas sector
- Knowledgeable of all aspects of a central plant construction program, including civil, foundations, buildings, piping, mechanical equipment, electrical and instrumentation
- Experience with bitumen processing facilities or fixed plant construction
- Northern remote location experience is required
- Must have experience dealing with aboriginal and community relations
- Previous experience working and interfacing with home office engineering disciplines and procurement (total project team of 100+ people)
- Experience in construction based on 3-D model platforms is helpful but not necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS
- This position is based at our [Location] in-situ operation, which is a remote site located 2 hours NE of Fort McMurray
- Air transportation from [Location] Site to Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon is provided
- Work Schedule is 10 days on and 4 days off
- Accommodation is based in a camp environment
