Job Purpose:
This position is located in the beltline area on 11th Avenue in Calgary, in our new corporate
office building which boasts an employee lounge and café as well as a fully equipped fitness
centre.
Reporting to the Regional Manager Human Resources, the Sr. HR Advisor is a generalist
accountable for human resource needs specific to their assigned client groups. The Sr. HR
Advisor also has general responsibility for identifying organizational needs and developing,
delivering, administering and monitoring the effectiveness of human resource initiatives.
Specifically, this position is responsible for the following:
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensures the company culture and brand are integrated into all HR processes and practices.
- Identifies organizational needs and participates in the process of defining HR strategies to meet those needs.
- Partners with their client groups to provide coaching and direction to Supervisors and Managers to ensure HR practices
- align with corporate culture and business strategies to achieve organizational and departmental objectives.
- Identifies and evaluates changes in industry practices and business trends and recommends appropriate strategies to
- address.
- Recommends and implements strategies to capitalize on opportunities that will improve the Company’s competitive
- position.
- Coaches Supervisors and Managers in all recruitment, selection, resource planning and retention activities,
- compensation planning, and employee relations matters.
- Develops opportunities for educating and communicating with employees (e.g. orientations, presentations).
- Understands customer requirements and provides quality customer service in a timely and accurate manner, matching
- expectations and capabilities.
- Monitors and advises on legislative and/or corporate policy issues in Human Resource matters.
- Ensures compliance and provides guidance related to regulatory requirements.
Minimum Qualifications and Relevant Experience Required:
The ideal candidate will possess:
- progressively responsible experience in a similar HR Advisor role with five to eight years of experience;
- a drilling, oilfield and/or industrial industry background is preferred, particularly with exposure to field operations;
- a post secondary education in Human Resources and a CHRP designation;
- experience developing project-driven strategies, focusing on fast-cycle initiatives and/or designing effective employee
- programs as well as managing projects through implementation;
- proven interpersonal and team effectiveness skills;
- the ability to coach and mentor others;
- flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and circumstances;
- strong analytical and research abilities;
- excellent business acumen to provide superior customer service to internal client groups; and,
- the ability to travel (within Canada and possibly the United States) periodically to the assigned client locations.
