MGC Maplesoft Group of Companies, is currently looking to identify a Senior IFRS Project Manager for our Calgary Client.
Responsibilities/Deliverables:
- Manage the implementation of IFRS, including providing education, reviewing gap analysis and ensuring that the appropriate internal processes are in place to meet the new International GAAP requirements in 2011.
- Prepare supporting analysis and information for the differences between IFRS and Canadian GAAP.
- Liaise with various departments (IT, Treasury, Tax, Operations, etc.) that are affected by the variances and assist in developing recommendations to address the related issues.
- Develop financial models to meet new standards, measurements or disclosure criteria to comply with IFRS.
- Provide guidance and elicit feedback from other departments to determine the impact of the new standards. Determine and coordinate process or reporting changes as necessary.
- Document the approach, results and conclusions of all analysis.
- Maintain the financial accounting policy manual and update for new accounting standards.
Required Qualifications:
- A post secondary degree and an accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA).
- A minimum of 5+ years of related and progressively responsible professional accounting experience including financial analysis, systems knowledge and financial reporting.
- Experience in the Oil and Gas services industry would be considered an asset.
- A strong working knowledge of Canadian GAAP and familiarity with IFRS.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) to complete objectives effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization and to build strong working relationships.
- Enthusiastic team player with proven ability to thrive in a fast paced and changing environment.
- Strong written and oral communication skills

- Responsible for the correct use protective clothing and equipment as provided by Our Client and for guarding against misuse or damage to such equipment.
- Responsible for reporting any hazardous situations arising in the workplace that cannot be self corrected, or injury incurred during the course of work, no matter how minor.
- Responsible for avoiding injury resulting from manual handling tasks associated with his/her employment, by use of risk assessment, correct mechanical handling equipment and correct manual handling techniques.
