Function Note:
Our client, a large aeronautical information concern currently requires a GIS Specialist with a post-secondary technology certificate or diploma in Geographic Information Systems, Avionics or Aviation. The individual will be involved in the end production of national aeronautical charts for civil aviation applications. The process will include the marrying up of aeronautical information with topographic information, validation of information with the assistance of the quality team and applying the correct information to the charts including labels.
The GIS Specialst role should utilize experience and knowledge including:
- Experience in using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and geophysical data.
- Experience in using complex automated systems such as ESRI's ArcMAP or ArcGIS.
- Experience with CAD applications such as AutoCAD or other cad systems.
- Experience in the area of production and/or data management.
- Knowledge of publication production methodologies and systems.
- Knowledge of the air navigation aids, avionics and the Air Navigation Systems not required, but a real asset.
- Knowledge of technical or engineering environments including production processes and workflow management.
- Knowledge of the ISO International Standard for GIS Systems.
- Ability to analyze complex situations and identify and resolve problems in a technically complex environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing in English.
- Ability to effectively organize time and workload.
- The ability to use cartographic, publication and charting software and the MS Office suite of applications.
- Ability to work in and create a productive cooperative work environment.
