The Mechanical Engineer will report to the Mechanical Engineering Technical Authority and will play a key role in overseeing the Mechanical engineering work in support of safe and efficient FPSO operations.
This role will be primarily involved in providing engineering support on mechanical static equipment, including vessels, valves, piping and storage tanks, heat exchangers, stress analysis and loading, and lifting equipment. Other areas of Mechanical equipment will be covered and opportunities to get involved with machinery with the Rotating Equipment technical authority will be presented ocasionally
Key accountabilities
- Provides day to day support to area maintenance , reliability personnel and operations.
- Performs analysis not performed by Root Cause Analysis team.
- Leads engineering efforts for TAR's (Turnarounds) and routine work in assigned areas.
- Provides technical support for daily troubleshooting
- Reviews specific equipment maintenance history and recommends changes to the preventive and predictive maintenance process.
- Spends sufficient time with maintenance supervisor and craftsmen to understand reliability and maintenance issues in areas.
- Supports TAR (Turnaround) preparation.
- Assists in post-TAR evaluation.
- Works with inspection to update records and drawings, and assists accounting in transferring charges in and out of inventory accounts.
- Supports Process Hazard Analysis.
- Assists with minor projects that are within their capabilities and time limitations.
- Completes action items generated by MOC's (Management of Change), HAZOP's (Hazards of Operability), RCA's (Root Cause Analysis), and HSE's (Health, Safety and Environmental).
- Responsible for working with inspection to understand condition of all assets and to initiate repair or replacement of assets as necessary to ensure the reliability of the process .
- Provides technical support for RBI (Risk Based Inspection).
- Solicits recommendations from craft personnel on how to improve job procedures and plans.
- Maintains records, tabulations, P&ID's (Process Instrumentation Diagrams) and drawings.
- Effectively uses information from databases to improve reliability of equipment.
- Monitors operating envelops and effectively communicates equipment and limitations with operations and maintenance personnel when operations are outside of these limits.
- Supports Management of Change (MOC) process.
- Assists in developing inspection plan for the TAR (Turnarounds) and participates in inspection during the TAR.
- Reviews inspection data and assists in job notes preparation and material problems.
- Supports and leads, as necessary, incident investigations for area of responsibility.
- Conducts studies and tests for repetitive maintenance problems and recommends solutions.
- Understands issues that are currently impacting production or equipment availability and assist in resolving these issues.
Essential criteria & qualifications
- Extensive Mechanical engineering experience.
- A minimum of Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Able to travel up to 25%.
- Able to write job notes with sketches, specifications, and instructions on repairs.
- Awareness of OSHA (Occupational, Safety, and Health Administration) standards.
- Working knowledge of several computer software applications including Microsoft Suite and SAP.
- Good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Able to pass pre-hire drug, criminal background and alcohol test.
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- One year of working TAR (Turnaround) knowledge.
- Working knowledge of OSHA (Occupational, Safety, and Health Administration) standards.
- Familiarity with API 570, API 510, and API 653 (American Petroleum Industry).
- Working knowledge of several computer software applications including Microsoft Suite and SAP.
- Good critical thinking and problem solving skills.
- Familiarity of Capital Value Processes.
