The Technical Environment SME – SAP has responsibility for:
• Supporting Technical Leads in planning and architecting SAP solutions for projects. This involves providing thought leadership on the best technical environment choices.
• Evaluating new SAP products from a Technical Environment / Basis perspective. Creating new processes and procedures as needed.
• Providing guidance and technical leadership to offshore ISDC Technical Environment / Basis personnel. Including providing SME support for urgent / difficult issues as required.
• Seeking and raising opportunities for continuous improvement within the TES service line.
This role reports to the Technical Environment Service (TES) line Manager in the Development Centre (ES ISDC).
Key accountabilities
• Responsible for the development and review of standard procedures and processes for key SAP system activities (build, refresh, DR, etc.)
• Assist the Technical Leads in project planning, including providing expert guidance on system design and build options.
• Identify changes needed to the environments and infrastructure for SAP applications (capacity, system parameters, system configuration)
• Involved in the following: technical site readiness support, stress/ performance testing support, infrastructure design and build coordination, system setup and configuration processes and support for SAP applications
• Provide leadership, assistance and support to offshore TES / Basis teams.
• Provide L3 Basis support for complex P1 issues if the offshore TES / Basis teams require assistance.
• Coordinates integration tests, system connections and system build dependencies with the Technical Environment SMEs – non SAP, the Technical Environment system integrator and appropriate GOI teams to deliver technical environments
• Coordinates and participates in the operational acceptance testing for SAP applications
• Test and support disaster recovery and business continuity plans in adherence with [Company] policies and procedures
• Assist in developing reports to communicate business continuity related information to internal and external regulatory and compliance entities
• Influence and coordinate with GOI service lines and [Company] control authorities to ensure alignment between operating directives and ES processes.
• Seek out and identify ineffeciencies within the ES / TES processes and procedures. Drive continuous improvement in the technical space.
Essential criteria & qualifications
• Expert SAP Basis knowledge across the suite of SAP applications, including deep Oracle DBA skills.
• Ability to identify options to enhance application standard operations
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of best practices for system setup, configuration and/or system administration and support
• Ability to manage geographically dispersed teams, including experience working with teams from India.
• Ability to create excellent working relationships within ES – specifically Projects, Application Support and the SAP application owners
• Strong problem solving and creative thinking abilities.
• Strong multitasking skills and experience working in fast paced and dynamic environments.
• An awareness of [Company] business and IT&S strategies
• Ability to demonstrate where peers/leadership were influenced to achieve strategic goals
Qualification & Certification:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
• Proven SAP systems delivery and/or system administration knowledge across the suite of SAP applications
• Implementation experiences at least 3 full life cycle application deployment projects with global footprint
• Proven experience managing budgets/programmes of ~$5-15M spend
• Demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving ability
• Experience providing leadership / mentorship to offshore based teams
• Proven influencer with strong communication skills

• Strong general IT background (Desktop, OS, Hosting, etc.)
• Project Management experience
• SDLC awareness
• ITIL3 awareness
