Role synopsis
- To ensure the safe and efficient operation, all machinery and electrical items.
- To operate, repair and maintain machinery associated with the operation of the vessel.
- To act as Safety Officer as per Safety Officer's Duties & Responsibilities - Working Practice One.
Key accountabilities
- Under the supervision and direction of the Second Engineer, to be employed either on day work or conventional watches as Engineer on Watch and carry out allocated maintenance tasks
- To complete routine engineering duties required in the normal operation of the vessel and by the Planned Maintenance Systems.
- To assist the Second Engineer in the preparation of spare gear and equipment procurement requirements.
- To act as a member of the Shipboard Emergency Response and Fire Fighting Team.
- To ensure energy isolation procedures are implemented before any work is carried out on the system.
- To carry out ISPS duties in accordance with the vessel Ship Security plan.
- To become familiar and comply with the relevant contents of the Quality Management System Manuals.
To maintain and test:
- Emergency Compressor
- Semi Portable Fire Extinguishers
- Steam Smothering System
- Ventilation Equipment Fire Flaps
- Lifeboat Engines
- Fire hoses, couplings and nozzles (if there is no J/E)
- Portable fire extinguishers (if there is no J/E)
Essential criteria & qualifications
- OOW III/1, with oil and/or Gas DCE.
- Minimum recent seatime in rank of 6 months on ship/engine type/size.
- Fluent in spoken and written English
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Experience on Oil and/or Gas Tanker Vessels.
- Preference those with steam and motor qualifications.
