Great opportunity with a financially stable and well established company located in the Houston, TX area for a hands on Exploration Manager. Reporting to the SrVP Exploration and Geosciences this position will run the clients Houston Geology Department directing exploration and/or joint venture endeavors including the planning and coordinating of geological and geophysical activities in search of oil and gas
 
Responsibilities
 
Directing exploration and/or joint venture endeavors including the planning and coordinating of geological and geophysical activities in search of oil and gas
Direct and manage professionals and support staff in accomplishing exploration goals
Develop corporate exploration prospect portfolio
Develop corporate exploration strategy to include all portions of the Gulf Basin and possible entry into other geologic provinces both domestic and international
Coordinate evaluation of the exploration potential on Gulf of Mexico acreage using a regional mapping process to identify this potential between the current client blocks
Manage the Outside Submittal prospect screening process to include coordination between Geology, Land, and Engineering
Coordinate Lease sale evaluations and recommendations
Review, approve, and ensure the technical quality of all Geological and Geophysical staff evaluations
Manage day to day coordination of actively drilling exploration wells
Provide projections and plans for developing exploration drilling budgets to include identifying seismic needs
 
Requirements
 
Degreed in applicable Geosciences or Petroleum Engineering. Advanced degree a plus
15 years or more of relevant industry experience with most experience being in the Gulf of Mexico
Demonstrated successful management of a large interdisciplinary team with a multifaceted workload
Exceptional skills in geology or geophysics, including structural and stratigraphic interpretation and prospect generation
Proficient in advanced exploration technology
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
Proficiency in such software as Excel, Microsoft Word, MMS E-Well, Access, etc
Duties and responsibilities as assigned
