This position oversees design consistency and integrity for a complex, first-in-kind multibillion dollar mega-project that will be conducted by several different companies across different work locations, and in an environment of evolving business processes and technical standards. Given that Client’s Project is a first-in-kind project, a creative and rigorous approach in managing technical interfaces and minimizing risks is required.
 
Reports to Position Title: Strategic Planning GM (structurally);
Asset Director (via business process)
 
Mission
Responsible for the integration of the production system from reservoir to point of sale. Focal point for tracking technical change, assessing its impact and ensuring continuing technical integrity of the design, facility and project. Responsible for managing technical risk exposure of the project through identification, tracking and development of mitigation plans for project risks.
 
 
Key Job Responsibilities
 
Interface Management
Demonstrate value-add of own role to the Line; build working relationships with them; recruit team to act as Interface Coordinators from each Group
Organize formal reviews/working sessions amongst the technical community in area of Client’s Project to identify and increase awareness of all technical / design interfaces and inter-dependencies
Visit project teams (including contractors) and review their work to ensure consistent design basis, data sets, and assumptions; as well as overall design consistency and integrity
Identify and quantify impact of design inconsistency; raise to Asset Director’s attention; suggest solutions / compromises; lead risk and value assessment for proposed solutions
 
Change Management
  • With Change Control Manager and Document Control Manager, establish Change Management process and ensure all relevant staff are trained; track major design changes; ensure that change control procedures are implemented; own the Impact Assessment Reports
  • Facilitate creation of interface agreements which outline specific information request, its requirement date, “supplier” and “receiver”; information include, but not limited to:
    • Engineering drawings
    • Process details
    • Design Reports and calculations
    • Equipment specifications
    • Project schedule
  • Own Client’s Project area Interface Register which contains all identified interfaces and associated agreements
 
Risk Management
  • With Sr. Risk Assessor, define the Risk Assessment processes and set up the Risk Register
  • Train relevant groups (including Planning, Cost, and Budget) to use and contribute to the Risk Register
  • Oversee proper use of the Risk Register and timely close-out of items; escalate issues to Asset Director if required
  • Own project risk mitigation plans
 
Coordination and Reporting
  • Manage team of Interface Coordinators to assure alignment and consistency of technical designs
  • Lead interface coordination meeting with main Contractors
  • Provide interface advice to Asset Director covering progress, delays, achievements and areas of concerns in aligning the interfaces
 
Development and Leadership of own group
  • Ensure behaviors, performance, and resourcing of own group support Client’s goals, company policy and standards
  • Participate in business planning, budgeting, Systems Integration, peer reviews, and other initiatives as required
  • Encourage commitment for continuous improvement and knowledge sharing among subordinates
  • Mentor and appraise staff in own group
  • Any other activities as requested to support the success of Client Project
 
 
Requirements
  • Authority and respect amongst the technical community is paramount
  • Experience in technical audit and design review for offshore floating oil and gas production facility
  • Familiar with risk management concepts
  • Superior project management, planning, and budgeting skills
  • Proven ability to work across cultures and hierarchies
  • Have working experiences in Indonesia
  • University degree or equivalent in Engineering
  • 10+ years in senior technical positions related to Oil and Gas Exploration and Production, including LNG plant
